2025 Husker Fall Camp News: August 17 No Practice

I truly hope HCMR finds a way to bring Husker football back to winning relevance as he is a special person who I think is changing lives for the better. I could listen to him all day. Between this video and his fantastic presser you can tell he is jazzed for the season. I would love to see him have a long run here as coach.

Go win and GBR!

"Nebraska is done with camp and moving into preseason mode with less than two weeks to go until the season opener. After the second scrimmage, Matt Rhule has two main concerns with his team."
Some Key Comments by HCMR:
"The team went "good on good" during periods that included being live for punts and field goals with rushing. Rhule said he has two main concerns out of the day."
"We had some penalties," Rhule said. "The Big Ten crew, I asked them to call it really tight. We had too many penalties."
"Rhule said the penalties were on the aggressive side and not pre-snap. He went on to say that he "feels really good" about the starters, but needs to see who wants to compete for spots after that."
"Which guys are going to step up and who's just okay with their role," Rhule said. "Sometimes in the world we live in now, we just say, 'Well, that's my role.' And then we just complain about it. I just want to know who's going to come out and fight for a new role because in the world that we're going to be in, we're going to play a lot of tough ball games.
Rhule added that the quality of play dropped from the first team to the second and again from the second to the third."

"I don't like that. It's doesn't make me happy," Rhule said.
"We're going to travel all across the country, play in different time zones, different weathers. I need guys that are in the threes right now to be starters by the end of the year, or starters on special teams. I look forward to seeing the tape and seeing who did that, who didn't."

Really really good analysis about 9 minuted

It will be a good test for our offensive line and RBs against a very solid Cincinnati run defense. That’s really all Cincinnati excels at. I would love to see us work our run game hard as this will set up a lot of explosive plays over the top.

Man, I would LOVE to see that happen. Run the ball, punt the ball, run the ball, punt the ball, run the ball, make Cincinnati tired, run the ball some more, pass the ball. Win the game 38 - 17.

However, I think the exact opposite play calling will happen. Our best offensive weapons are the quarterback and a few of the wide receivers. I think we're going to pass the ball 50% to 60% of the time the first three quarters, get a 21 - 14 lead in the fourth, then run/punt the ball and win 21 - 17.

There you go, making things up again. Where did I say the game plan should be 3 unsuccessful runs and then punt? If we are passing 50% of the time, what are we doing the other 50% of the time? Wouldn’t it be beneficial if what we do the other 50% of the time works?
