2025 B1G tournament At Charles Schwab Field

Next year’s 2026 tourney is in Chicago. Wonder if firearms will be necessary for attendees (I know snarky, inappropriate comment. I predict right now that attendance will be significantly less than This is absolutely nuts….
I think you’re talking about the basketball tournament…..

But if you’re not…. That would be just…..

Crazy!

Omaha is just a mystical place for college baseball….. and the fans love the tournament and the CWS….

Most of those BiG tournament teams won’t even sniff the College World Series….

This is their chance to play at the Mecca!

One of the announcers on the Big Ten network said it perfectly …. “Playing college baseball in Omaha is just so magical.”

Who on earth thought moving it to Chicago was a good idea?

Attendance will totally tank….they will lose money….. And playing in Chicago has zero mystique.

Why don’t they poll the teams and ask them where they’d rather play? I think we all know the answer.

I’m glad we are in the Big Ten because of the money….. but I will never, ever understand the reasoning behind so many Big Ten decisions….if what you say is true.

I know fan support at Schwab Field is excellent and NU winning the tournament is probably waved off as home field advantage.

This time, Huskers did not have to rely on the crowd; they entertained them. All three games were dominating! We win all 3 handily. Love it for the lack of angst we usually have to go thru to a close win. Thank you guys for just handing it to all three teams !

Easy! They are people with diplomas who are STUPID!! If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Duh! This has happened a lot in the past. Playing tournaments in any other town but Omaha, they end up looking like idiots! I remember when they played in Minnesota for baseball. The stadium was a cemetery! It is nothing but jealousy, when you take it out of Omaha or Lincoln. Both have the best attendance for tournaments. Oh well, you can't fix stupid, right?

You might be right … I went back and looked at my google search … and the men’s basketball tournament is in Chicago. The 2026 baseball tournament has yet to be announced.

I believe that they extended Omaha for 3 years last year. I think we are in Omaha through 2027.
From google

The Big Ten Conference has a contract with the Metropolitan Entertainment & Convention Authority (MECA) to host the Big Ten Baseball Tournament at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. This contract is for three years, covering the 2025, 2026, and 2027 tournaments. The tournament determines the Big Ten's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship.

Good thing NU won the tournament, or the only teams from the big 10 in the 64 team field would have been teams that just joined the league.

I think that should put to bed how good or bad this conference is.

I just….totally disagree.

And I would write more, but my excitement and attention are elsewhere at the moment. I just watched the most unlikely scenario play out in a conference championship. A team struggling to get above .500 and some respectability….play lights out baseball against two of the top teams in the country and one team that was unquestionably “hot.”

I’m happy and excited!

The SEC has 13 teams in the dance, and I don’t think anyone’s ever raised a question or an issue whether they are the best baseball conference in the country.

Followed by the ACC…with 9 teams…Big 12 with 7

Big Ten has 4

Any other conference with more than the Big Ten?…. 305 schools are in NCAA baseball division one…..31 conferences get an automatic bid for the conference champion very few of those conferences besides the Power 4 get more than the automatic bid.

And this makes the Big Ten bad?

The addition of western teams have made us better…no question

Most I can remember the BiG getting in the old days was 4 teams. This year is 4.

I will grant you that it is not as “good” as the SEC or the ACC or even the Big 12 in Baseball…. But I just don’t see how you’re saying the conference is “bad.”

“Not as competitive as the other 3 power conferences”…sure…but bad I cannot agree to.

I have done the research in the past, but it isn’t that important now. Yes, the big10 has had decent years here and there, but mostly they only get 2 teams in at best. I am not talking about picking out a single year, and then claiming they are good, I am talking how they have done long term.

The big10 got in 4 teams for sure, all newcomers and 1 long term member. And we only got the one long time member because of a great finish.

Also, I am not comparing the big10 to other conferences to determine if they are good.. except for maybe how they stacked up once they did make it in.

Edit: I really hope the newcomers can raise this conference up some.
