I have had a bad feeling all along that Mast will not return. Essegian and Berke will go to the highest bidder. Griffiths will look for more playing time elsewhere. The rest, I think, will all return. Thoughts???
 

Theres no reason to assume Mast is leaving. Griffiths is gone. CEO and Berke are up in the error

Listening to the "Nebraska Basketball After Show" on Sunday the said that most that can come back are coming back with Berke and Gavin being the two unknown at this point. Get a reliable shooter, an aggressive defender, and an athletic point guard and things should be promising.

I think this team really could have excelled with a better Video Coordinator.

My guesses:

Griffiths might not have a lot of options, and may stick at Nebraska to try to develop. There are so many open slots for next year it might be tough to get someone better. BUT -- since this year it was 13 scholarships plus however many walk-ons and next year it is a total of 15 players (all on scholarship in the Big Ten I think), they might not be room for a project like Gavin -- Justin Bolis is the project I'd rather have at this point.

Janowski and Frager have done well on the scout team, and Frager's shot has gotten better, but who knows.

Hoiberg and Janowski at point is a scary proposition, expect to get help there.

Mast should be back, sounds like he was a good teammate through the year, acting as a student coach. Berke, who knows, seems like he was really into it, but I thought the same with Breidenbach.

Jacobsen will move on I think -- he's very useful for plugging holes, but since he didn't walk I expect him back. I think Burt will have to wait to see if there is an open chair for next year, might become a student assistant. Or TE, his cousin is at Iowa.

I suppose Essegian could move again, but as a senior coming off an inconsistent year at Nebraska, I don't think he will have great options. It might make sense for him to take the highest bidder like Wilcher did last year.

Sounds odd, but I think almost everyone stays that can, and Griffiths and Burt will wait to see if they can stay after transfers in. Griffiths still will have the option to join many teams later in the process.

We need Jano and incoming frosh Rhmes to come ready to play
99% Mast stays

Everyone else 50/50.

We need one great center, one great PG and one great scorer.......maybe a fourth depending on how FH views the 3 frosh of Rhymes, Jano and Frager. IMO Frager is an complete unknown. Jano we know can shoot, glad hell be ready to go

Jankowski is going to be good I think. He’s a gym rat who just wasn’t picking up on Fred’s system until recently. I know a member of Fred’s staff and they think very highly of him.

This portal off season is HUGE for HCFH

Berke signed for 2 years. CE looks back. GG looks to stay. Mast is back. Forager and Jano look back plus incoming freshman. Get a PG and forward and we will be fine.

So there are over 1000 players reported to be in the Transfer portal for men's basketball.

There are none on the Husker roster reported as entering. Granted, we are still playing at least one more game, but that has not stopped many other players.


My question is this:

Are there no Huskers in the portal because they have a spot and expect to play and contribute in Lincoln, and like the situation?

Or

Are there no Huskers in the portal because they do not feel they have a shot to contribute and play elsewhere?

Im really surprised that GG is not in the portal. Its not surprising that noone else is though. Berke seemed to really like it here and improved. CEO has made it clear he does. Who else would transfer? The RS frosh are grearing up for PT next season.

I think in our case, most anyone that MIGHT be in the portal CAME from the portal and I would guess they learned that teams arent knocking on the doors the way they expected and now they are staying. If we had a bunch of guys that have never been in the portal it might be different. But those guys are either RS frosh ready to play or the coachs son
