2023 Spring Practice: Friday 21 April Coach Solich To Meet With The Media 1:45 PM

This is a good watch. You can go to about the 8:00 minute mark and hear why he changed to Berringer’s number.

Mixed on this, admittedly I haven't watched the video yet. I think Brook's number should be retired. If the family signed off on this, I'll defer to them but I'm still struggling with anyone wearing it, even in honor of.

Seems like yesterday to me that he died suddenly.

I’m not sure it’s necessary to retire his jersey. There are lots of Husker stories such as Sam Foltz, George Flippin, Kenny Walker, hundreds of walk-ons (IM Hipp, Jared Tomich, Mackovicha’s) who went on to success just to name a few.

Brook Berringer was a selfless backup playing behind arguably the greatest Husker of all-time. He was an NFL caliber QB. He died tragically and way too soon. That isn’t necessarily a qualification to retire a jersey in my opinion.

PS I don‘t mean to sound callous or unappreciative towards BB. To me his perseverance is something me don’t see in todays world, and is needed more than ever.
