2023 NFL Draft

I read this morning that the Chiefs tried to move up to the Cowboys spot but the Cowboys didn't want to trade with them. I assume the Chiefs either wanted Nolan Smith, Anton Harrison, or Myles Murphy. Instead, the Cowboys let the Birds get Smith and now have to face him twice a year, and the Cowboys used their pick on a guy who likely would have been there at 31.
And that's why the Cowboys are the Cowboys.

@HuskerWeatherman your Eagles had a great day yesterday. As a Bears fan I hated passing on Carter, but I get their mindset. Their roster isn't built to foster a kid like that yet.

The Eagles on the other hand are a perfect spot. Super Bowl caliber team with one of the best locker rooms in the league. With three former Georgia teammates there with him. Great pick. Getting Smith, a top 15 talent at the bottom of round 1 was another coup.

For Chicago, they did well getting their top OL and grabbing a 4th rounder too. But Wright has to hit for them. Not just be serviceable. That dude has to be one of the top 5-10 RTs in the league for the next decade for them. Not only for their own needs, but in a year or two, they might look back and see they passed up on the next Warren Sapp.

Cowboys were definitely looking DT. If they can stop the run better that D will be elite with Coach Quinn.
They felt there was good value left tonight at TE and RB which is where they will likely go tonight. Maybe OL if the right guy is there.

They did a great job of addressing their needs at DB and WR in Free Agency.

People criticized the Tyler Smith pick last year and he has been very good.

Crazy. The Lions did not draft a position of need. Yes, the Bama RB is great, but...
The Lions have 5 picks in the first two rounds of this years draft with three 5th rounders coming as well.

The Lions are in the unique position that they can draft a bit differently than the norm. They can add athleticism, dynamic playmaking … maybe not take the “best available” player. Their bounty of picks allows them to be a bit unorthodox.

Only criticism I have is if Gibbs was their primary target, I would have traded down and accumulate future picks than taking him with #12.
