2023 MLB Thread

Turner and Harper are both turning it on big time when it matters most.

Harper has homered in back-to-back games. 5 this month (after only 6 in the 2 months prior).

Trea has been huge since the fans encouraged with standing ovations at every AB in the early-August series against KC. Trea responded by having 12 billboards in Philadelphia thanking the fans. That team and the fans have an awesome relationship.

Turner: .349 in the past 17 games, 4 homers, 6 doubles, 14 RBIs, 21 runs scored. I believe he's up to three game winning hits in this stretch as well.

Took a 2-0 series lead over the Giants just by making contact in a game of inches.

This Philadelphia team is better than last year's which made it to the World Series (they currently have the third best record in the NL). Whether or not they can catch lightning in a bottle again in the postseason is another story, but they have the cast of players and great chemistry to give it another run.

Another stat: Philly has hit more homers this month than any other team in the majors.

The Phils, Dodgers, and Braves are head and shoulders above the rest of the NL. But the Braves are markedly better than both. Anything can happen in a postseason series, but the Braves have won 3 straight in LA and go for the sweep tomorrow. When this team is right no one can beat them.

RAJ is the MVP, Fried looks postseason dominant, Strider can strike out anyone. 10 players have 10+ homers. A really special team and season.

October can't get here soon enough.

This Braves team is loaded, but so was last years. And growing up watching the Braves in the 90's has taught me to never get my hopes up with the Braves in the postseason.

And all this "Betts has overtaken Acuna for MVP" talk is asinine to me. First player ever with 30 hr and 60 steals in a season.

This Braves-Phillies series is nuts.

15-15 combined score in yesterday's double-header.

6-6 going into the 10th in tonight's game.
The Braves winning two extra-innings games on the road is impressive, especially with how much heat comes out of the pen for the Phils. The worst the Braves can do on this 4 game series is split which I'm more than happy with.

This Phils team is once again the last team I think anyone wants to play in October. They score on anyone and they have multiple 98+ arms in the pen. Starting pitching is the only shaky item.

Braves are just special this year. Ronnie is gonna get 40/40 and Olson is gonna get to 55ish homers and lead the league in RBI's.

Michael Harris batting 9th is a neon sign indicating what an embarrassment of riches that lineup has.

Disagree. Brewers have best pitching staff top to bottom in the NL. They will end up with the #3 seed and have the best 1st round matchup.

I do have to chuckle that the Twins will win the AL Central with 6 other teams in that conference having a better records … 2 of those are going to be disappointed.

Brewers have some potential, but I dont think they can offensively contend with the Braves, Dodgers, and Phils over a 7 game series.

I do like their staff a lot though. If they get hot and go deep they'll be a tough out for anyone.

Brewers have some guys getting hot at the right time … Adames, TTaylor, Donaldson (has been a nice pickup). Cahna and Carlos Santana have been nice trade deadline pickups. But Yelich who was having a very good mid season has been out for 2 weeks due to a bad back. Getting him back for the post season will be a difference maker IMO.

Brewers are going to have to win a few playoff games 3-2, 4-2, 3-1 … if they’re forced to mash with Atlanta they will lose.

I do have to hand it to the Twins, though. They've become a much better hitting team in the second half. Royce Lewis looks like a soon-to-be All Star. And their pitching is solid. 6th in the Majors in Team ERA.

For much of the season, I thought they were going to be a laughable winner of that lowly division. I think they've improved significantly since the All-Star break. 7th overall in MLB in winning percentage in the second half. I won't call them a favorite in the post season, but they could be sneaky dangerous.
