Dad and I both got deer tags for November. I got an antelope tag for Oct. Will be back down in Bennett County. Going to cruise around on my ATV this time and possibly set up my ghost blind during antelope. I also fully intend to take my deer with the 300 Savage (instead of the 7mm all the time). Put a bipod on the old gal.

Anyone else gets tags or plan to hunt any big game come Fall?

I'd like to get one of those in .250 Savage.

Got a deer tag as well. Need to get my cameras out after labor day and see what's around the farm this fall. Lots of cover this year as there was a lot of moisture. Hoping the pheasants and newly found partridge stick around all season.
 



Looks like you are already practicing pissing in a bottle. I didn't think gun hunters did that. ;)

I'm a bowhunter and used to pee in bottles. After reading numerous studies that said it did either attract deer or, at worst, had no effect, I stopped using a bottle.

Is that the only lever action you own? I have developed an interest recently and have been looking around. Can't find a good caliber that I would want to shoot. Was hoping to find a lever gun in the .350 Legend but haven't had any luck. Found some good looking guns online but don't really want to shoot deer with a .45/70. It would do the trick but not the best idea.

Anybody have some tips or good advice?
 




I have a newer Henry 22 in lever action and a Marlin 30-30 in lever as well.

I think for here in SD, the 300 savage is pretty sweet. A little drop after 200yds compared to the 7mm. But love the action and industrial mechanics.

I've had a. 308 Browning lever since '88, and I don't know what would make a better deer rifle. It's great in heavy cover, and it shoots <1" groups at 100 yards with factory ammo.

I also have a Winchester lever .22, which I also love.

I pee in scrapes, only after lots of water, no coffee pee. I usually only pee a small amount. Have a 15-25 yr old male do it, they have way more testosterone than us older fellas.
 



Haven't been away from home in months to look anywhere. This next weekend a buddy and I are looking at a road trip to Sioux Falls and Mitchell. Will definitely be looking for a lever and a couple others I have my eye on.
