I liked your post because I agree with it. I didn't like it because no game on black Friday. I felt the need to clarify.
Nothing screams Instant Classic like Minnesota vs Nebraska, playing on Black Friday, with the $5 Bits of Broken Chair Trophy at stake.

i have no problem with the crossover scheduling. did we not come to the big ten to play michigan/osu/penn state/mich state? games vs maryland and rutgers are pretty meh
it doesn't bother me not finishing the season against iowa, but losing the black friday slot kinda sucks. i honestly don't care who we finish the season against out of iowa/minnesota/wisconsin, but i hope going forward they pick one of them and stick with it. that's one way that rivalries are built. i'd even be favor of finishing the season vs oklahoma or colorado every year but i doubt that idea would be very popular with a possible big ten title game the week after.

So it looks like NU will try to schedule another non-conference home game for 2020. Hopefully they get a decent name to come in to fill in the 7th home game that year. That would mean 4-straight home games to start the season and @HuskerNCorpus I think that would help negate the tough stretch in the middle of the season for recruiting. Also, hope that Minnesota takes advantage of possibly moving to Black Friday. That's a guaranteed spotlight game for them two years in a row. I really don't see the downside for it.
Often times, NU gets recruits to come visit during the recruits' BYE week, which usually happens later in the season. From October 11 until November 28, we only have one home game. That's far, far from ideal.
(4 away games, a BYE week and just 1 home game).

The schedule makes sense from a financial perspective. NU still is still a big draw for TV ratings so having games against big time programs would get a lot of viewers compared to playing Rutgers.
These are also great tests to see if Riley is the guy for NU. After a few good recruiting cycles we should have the players to compete. Also we could lose a game and still make the playoff.
