Nice story. Thanks for posting.
Speaks a lot about how far this team has come over the past five years when an 81-win season feels like a disappointment. There were some wins left on the table, but the injuries, and probably fatigue of playing in back-to-back WS, caught up with the team this year. I've talked with some friends that are more baseball knowledgeable than I, and their feelings are to try and sign Hosmer to an extension this offseason. If that can't happen, I'm told it would be better to trade him before the start of the 2017 season. Same thing for a couple of other guys who have contracts up after 2017. Not sure how I feel about that. At this point, I'll trust Dayton Moore's decisions, but I don't like the idea of not trying to compete in 2017, because of what may happen in 2018. The Royals aren't some consistent contender that can assume it'll be back in the playoff hunt on a regular basis.
I think getting rid of Davis now might be the best chance to maximize his value. I think Herrera can close and potentially get Holland to come back and set up. Strahm was very good in relief as well although he might be a starter in the KC plans.I'd rather see Davis stay and Gordo on the block. Mosquito mentioned it above and I was certainly guilty of looking at Gordon with scarlet & cream colored glasses after they won the series and were talking to him about a new deal. He didn't play well last year and I'm guessing is on the downhill slide. Get something for him now, lose the salary and keep Davis.

It wouldn't surprise me if Gordon had a bounce back year. Lets face it, very few Royals didn't have a down year with the bat.
