Folks continuing to perpetuate the falsehood that Cignetti and Cuban just went out and bought a bunch of highly rated players on the 2024 and 2025 teams is laughable.

The transfer portal absolutely was a driver with the guys he brought from JMUbut Cuban’s bags of cash wasn’t a main factor. It will be in the future but check the * status of that roster compared to the other playoff teams before continuing the lie.

I don’t know. Impossible to answer, but I do know he just did it with probably the least overall talented roster in the playoffs of the power 4 teams. Only 6, 4* players on that roster, by far the least of anyone. What I do know is, he does know what football players look like, and how to make them successful. He’s the best coach in the country, and it’s not even close.
He is a great evaluator and developer of talent. But quite a few of the guys he brought in with him were grown men. Physically and mentally mature.

I do think this upcoming year will be interesting as it will be a bit of a test as to whether this high level of excellence will continue.

2026 schedule wise does not break down as too tough for Indiana:

1) 3 really easy non conference games - North Texas, Howard and WKU

2) 5 home B1G games.

3) tOSU, USC at home

4) Michigan, NU, Rutgers and Washington on the road.

Right now they’re likely to be favored in every game but 1. Without the shake out of transfers, spring game …

The first two seasons uunder Cignetti has had a huge schedule advantage.

Bill Snyder didn’t have the portal. Different era and a stunning turnaround.
Snyder was really good with the JUCOs back in the day. He knew how to get the most out of a mobile QB and could manage a roster. KSU likely doesn't have the donor base to be a player in NIL/Rev Share era.

Snyder was also an expert at creating an out of conference schedule that allowed his teams to build continuity and confidence before heading into conference play.

What do you suppose NIL (Cuban) paid Mendoza? Fernando Mendoza's Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) portfolio is valued at approximately $2.6 million, making him one of the top five highest-valued college football players. Seriously doubt IND wins NC without Mendoza. We have no clue how much NIL money was sprinkled around… Yea Cignetti is an excellent coach but I’d bet millions are involved with what Cuban is pumping into that program. We don’t have anyone remotely like Cuban who’s willing to pump millions into Nebraska NIL. On the other hand Cignetti is obviously an excellent judge of talent.

Of course millions were involved. Can’t compete without 20+ million.

My point was, Indiana didn’t pull a Texas Tech move and just try to buy a team by out bidding everyone else.

Cignetti brought JMU guys with him rather than trying to outbid for B1G and SEC players. He identified talent that fit his program, many of whom were not the most highly sought after. 6-8 four star players on the ENTIRE roster. That’s less than OSU gets in each class.

Claiming Cuban just bought the team cheapens what Cignetti actually did with talent identification, development, and coaching.

The fact is Cuban has already given millions... FACT! What or how it worked for IND is another story. Nothing cheap about millions in NIL money was my point. We don’t know how much money was/is involved with that program and probably never will. How many players were bought and paid for by Indy, only they know. What and how he use millions in NIL money only confirms Cignetti is a very good judge of talent. However you still need copious amounts of money to grease the skids to hire the players needed to win imo.

As NU fans, let's just see what Rhule can do in the next 2 years. I'm just hoping for visible results, like fewer blowouts, more wins in November, winning against a favored team, winning record in the B1G... Not asking too much I hope.
So now we are in Frost territory and you are advocating for more time and more money? We have been down this road before. It is common knowlege the Cubans money is deeply rooted in the success of the Hoosiers
