Whew! Good thing they are trying to fix it! And if Frost can’t fix it, someone else will come along after Frost is gone.
When the program keeps a guy who's won 15 games in four years, and is 3-9 this year, it's fair to ask whether they're genuinely "trying" to fix it, rather than just making it cheaper to fix it next year.

Fans may quit showing up if they think that the program is merely "hoping" to fix it instead of "trying" to do so. And once this program loses fan support, it's dead.

Sometimes geography matters. Im sure nobody will agree but who cares. If we look at the true midwest (Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, heck throw in the Dakotas), you know the middle of the USA. One thing you will likely see is there is only one team that has been consistently successful at the FBS level(the definition can be debated). That team oddly enough also has the longest tenured Head Coach in the nation (Iowa). Take out Iowa and there is absolutely no team that strikes any concern of being a contender of any kind. Heck, even Iowa really makes nobody nervous nationally.

With this being said, why is it like this? Can it be fixed by any school? How? It is very frustrating but to say Nebraska is in a unique situation I feel is possibly not a true statement. We are a LONG way from success but I think it has to start with figuring how instead of trying to figure out when.

Id say the program has been dying since 2009. That 0.01 seconds hurt in a lot of ways.

So much to pick apart. First, ”selling” Frost an extra year is not an indication that the university is not trying to “fix” things. It is simply giving the current coach the benefit of the doubt that, if given more time, he can figure it out. People can differ on whether Frost can do it. We have no idea of the complete conversation that took place between TA and SF. But I don’t think it was a conspiracy to destroy the program. It was a deal to save the university 8.5 million dollars in exchange for another year to get over the hump.

Secondly, it is true that fans not showing up during down years will negatively impact how much money the program can generate. But a reduction in attendance cannot kill the program. If that were true, many programs, even at the P5 level wouldn’t exist today. Besides, its pretty evident that the fan base still supports their Huskers.

Frost has another year to show progress in the win/loss column. If it doesn’t happen, changes will occur. I’m anxious to see who the new offensive staff additions will be.

Champions was dead today. The donors seems apathetic AF. Long time boosters absent today. Can’t blame the weather either. Just a bad vibe all around.

Team accidentally jumped out to too big a lead and had to choke back hard to get on the standard lose-close glide path. Kudos to whoever thought of not blocking half their line on that punt. Made things right real quick.
