That was a perfect example of Tom sticking the course during a very frustrating first half and then going for the kill in the 2nd half and racking up an insurmountable lead. I would love to see our current crop of Huskers developing that killer mentality.
I forgot how much I thought Ahman Green and Calvin Jones ran alike with that smooth running style, patiently setting up blocks, and then killing it with a well timed and fluid burst of speed.
under ratedDerek Brown may not be considered one of the top 5 all time but he was one of my favorites growing up.
Several things. I just watched all of that. I was there that day. Field was terrible, Tommie was on the cusp of greatness, you could see it. Sad to see that rivalry end. The offense was a thing of beauty. Defense got better and better. Osborne was a genius, the helmets looked better, meaner, tougher. Back when the Huskers were someone. Great memories, but sadness at what’s happened. CFB is a shell of this now. I don’t even care anymore, but still love the Huskers.
It was a great time to be young. 26 for me. I’m glad I’m old enough to have seen great great football back then, as well as how simple life in general was back then. Sorry to all the young guns out there that missed all of this. We had it all, and didn’t even know it.
