I remember that game.
Tim Hagar, Sr walk-on QB from LSE, had a career day (if he had a better one, it wasn't against such talent). Two TD passes to TE Junior Miller. Blew the game open, I think once Hagar hit Miller over the top on the 70 yard bomb.
Hagar was starting QB for the season, but eventually Jeff Quinn (Jr) took over. Hagar was in theory the better passer, but Quinn eventually matched him and Quinn was much bigger, faster and better on the option. By the end of the season Quinn was the starting QB.
Here is an interesting stat: PSU included two senior DL's. One, Bruce Clark was #4 pick in the 1980 draft, and another was Matt Millen who was 43rd player chosen in 1980 (switched to LB in NFL). Matt Suhey was FB and was 46th player in chosen in 1980 draft. Curt Warner was #3 pick of draft in 1983 draft.
