Last Time Out
The Huskers (4-2) turned their best shooting performance of the season in Friday's 84-59 win over Marist. The Huskers shot a season-high 56.7 percent, including 11-of-24 from 3-point range, and put four players in double figures.

Anton Gill shared team-high honors for Nebraska with 17 points, including five 3-pointers. The senior guard, who missed nearly all of last season with a knee injury suffered on Christmas night, has been a spark for the Huskers. In his four games since returning to the lineup after a groin injury, Gill is averaging 11.3 points per game. He leads the Huskers in 3-pointers with 11 and 3-point percentage (.550). He has more 3-pointers this year than in 12 games last year, and set career bests in two of his last three contests.

Long Beach State
Long Beach State (3-3) avenged an earlier loss to Oregon State, knocking off the Beavers 74-59 on Friday after falling to OSU 89-81 in Corvallis on Nov. 18. Deishaun Booker led LBSU with 14 points, 12 assists and five rebounds, while Gabe Levin had 14 points and five boards. Oregon State led 53-47 before the 49ers went on an 11-2 run to take control.

If Nebraska shows up, they are going to go 2-1 in this tournament. Not exactly how they wanted to go 2-1, but it’s 2-1 nonetheless. We should be 5-2 after today.

After this tourney, their schedule gets brutal for 5 games before closing out 2017 with what *should be* 3 easy wins.

Essentially, we need to get at least 2 wins during that tough stretch, that would put us at 10-5 heading into January with 16 games remaining. Going .500 would put you at 18-13 heading into the Big 10 tournament. With their schedule, 19 wins should dance.

Hey, not predicting anything, just laying it out there. For this team to have a path, they have to give themselves a chance by going at least 2-3 through the upcoming difficult 5 game stretch.

Call me crazy, hell as I'm typing it I think I'm crazy but I could see us beating Kansas...

I don’t think you’re crazy at all. I think there will be games in which we look like a Top 25 Team. There will also be games where we will look brutally horrible. The pieces are there, the staff needs to get them to be consistently good.

Kent is interviewing Michael Lewis on the air in the pre-game show. An interesting interview.

Some comments from another site that may be helpful in watching Long Beach State:

The Skinny: The Huskers have thus far played in a pattern of bad game followed by good game with Eastern Illinois being bad enough for us to still be 4-2. This is a 49er team punchy enough to knock off a Power 5 team that isn't bringing it, especially from defense, as they showed vs Oregon St.

On offense the 49ers are fast strike, often taking the first available shot. They're mostly trying to drive to the hoop but they're also not afraid to work the ball around a jack up a 3 or whatever the situation. Long Beach St is pretty sloppy with the ball so the name of the game is simply getting set on defense and blocking a lot of their junk to the rim. Most of the 49ers are capable of taking a 3pt shot but the guy to watch out for is Bryan Alberts as he's taken 43 of their 124 attempts.

Defensively the Huskers need to not be too mesmerized by the constantly changing defenses. I saw Long Beach run some 3/4 court pressure that they'd occasionally trap with and that fell into a 2-3 zone. I saw a 1-3-1, man, and that was just during the 10 minutes of game I scrolled through. Nebraska needs to continue to rotate the ball around, get Issac and Jordy working inside, get Palmer driving, and Watson hitting shots. The defenses might be varied, but they haven't really been stopping anyone. There should be plenty of offense from fast breaks and FTs to augment an off shooting day here.
