Has there been any update as to the academic status of Maurice Washington?
We won't really know anything until this semester is over.
That situation doesn't seem to portend well.
I don't think it ends well for a couple reasons.
I don't recall, not many other big time schools were pursuing him when NU got him (Washington) due to the academic situation?
Doesn't look like Washington will be playing this year. I'd say Miles Jones is our next best option.
Could be the -2 we need! Doesn't look good
Disappointing. I know SSO had hinted we've had academic support issues in recruiting before, hopefully this is one of the last of them.
Well, not necessarily. If they never make it to campus, you are correct. However, if they make it to campus this August, they will both count towards the 85 scholarship limit. An academic redshirt means he is not eligible to play, but he still counts as a scholarship player.
Yes, I am sure that is the reason that he was not heavily recruited.
Redshirt year for next season is not necessarily a bad thing. The schedule is brutal. Would rather have him the following year with a bit more seasoning.
And he can still practice with the team.
If this is in reference to being at 85, we are already there. Washington would take us to 84 if he doesn't make it here.
