Luke McCaffrey

Sounds like McCaffrey is coming to Nebraska to play QB. Lots of speculation he would be shifted to other positions but he's going to get a real chance to play QB for Nebraska imo. I wouldn't be quick to write McCaffrey off regardless of how good AM is next season. Might have an excellent back up in 2020 that will press AM for the starting job. Lets remember that Hurts at Bama went 24-2 and won a NC win yet was beat out by Tua Tagovailoa!

Bottom line it's great Nebraska is really starting to stock up on quality QB's....

Will be fun to watch the next several years at the QB position. McCaffrey's not a Tagovailoa by any stretch of the imagination (IMHO) and he needs a couple years of the training program and nutrition. But he's a great athlete and a good enough passer . . . and all the McCaffrey kids have been around football and pro football all their lives. They have a really high football IQ--and that's a huge benefit.

He'll learn the playbook and gain some size/weight . . . and then he'll be able to get into the mix. By then, AM ought to be pretty spectacular and we should have some good talent & depth in the QB room ready to take over.

Does Mcaffrey redshirt next year?

Don’t forget about 2020 recruit Logan Smothers, also a supreme athlete from a football family.

Does AM win the Heisman his junior year and depart for the League?

Holy crap is this going to be fun watching this sort itself.

Lets remember his brother Christian was rated a 4 star prospect when he went to Stanford. I'd say he turned out pretty well?? It's in the family genes as you say so who knows just how good Luke might turn out. He's already 2" taller then Christian and is one heck of an athlete. It should be fun and it would be real nice to have a great backup for AM.....

Maybe he is better than Adrian? Dude is a great QB. Bunch leaves and we don't have a backup? Come on now. We need this guy. We need to win enough to put him in late in the game early in his career. You don't win by having 1 deep talent or else. I don't get any of this.

I say yes e redshirts, but, I also think he get's playing time under the new 4 game rule.

Well, we learned this year that we have to have a serviceable backup ready to roll in case of nefarious ankle-locks and such on our number one guy. Actually, Adrian did turn out to be pretty doggone durable this season after his knee healed.

I just think Mccaffrey will be an asset to the team no matter his role.

Wondering about Vedral, too - what does this do to his status?

Well I think Noah becomes the back up to 2AM for this year. Then Luke becomes the emergency guy while redshirting. Pretty sure NV realizes he is a back up and will stay put. He was also a back up at UCF.

I can’t see them moving him, especially with Bunch leaving. I’m sure the staff doesn’t want to go through another season with 2 QBs.

Although I'm very high on McCaffrey, there is a lot of work that needs to be done before he is ready for the Big Ten. At this point I think he's a better athlete than a quarterback, but I do believe he could become a very good quarterback under Coach V. Next year will be a redshirt development season for him unless Noah gets injured.

Makes sense.

Coach Verdusco is going to be earning his bacon again this year. It seems he has turned out to be quite an asset on this staff.

Maybe he can be an all-around specialist much the same way New Orleans uses backup QB Taysom Hill (punt/kick returner, slot receiver, running back, wildcat QB, gunner of punt coverage ...).

maybe although I do not believe that is HCSF style.

Is Hill the qb from BYU when we played them in 2015?
