The Nebraska baseball team appears on its way to making a quiet exit from the Big 12 Conference.
The last-place Cornhuskers are in danger of missing the postseason tournament for the third year in a row and struggling to remain relevant among fans as they head toward their future in the Big Ten, where the sport is almost an afterthought.
The Huskers this weekend host a Texas team ranked Nos. 5 and 6 in the national polls. They play on the road next week against another top-10 team in Texas A&M and finish the regular season at home against Missouri, with whom they share last place.
Coach Mike Anderson is holding out hope that the Huskers (27-18, 6-11 Big 12) can finish in the top eight and make the Big 12 tournament - and maybe even the NCAA tournament.
