Husker hoops splits with Cyclones at closed scrimmage
The Cyclones won the first game 45-31, shooting 50 percent and going 8 of 14 from three-point range. James Palmer Jr. and Isaac Copeland combined for 19 of Nebraska's 31 points.
In the second 20 minutes, NU outscored the Cyclones 43-33 while shooting 49 percent from the field and holding ISU to 37 percent. Glynn Watson Jr. had nine points and four assists while Copeland and Tanner Borchardt combined for 19 points on 8 of 9 shooting.
Well. Good for him.Former Husker Michael Jacobson totaled nine points and three rebounds for Iowa State.
Smarter too - he was on a Regents scholarship (academic full ride) before he got the athletic scholarship.Borchardt had the same pts/rebounds(9/3) as Jacobson in 11 less minutes. And he doesn't look like 'Vision Quest' era Micheal Modine either. Win/win for the Huskers.
It’s Matthew, and he was only facing Jacobson, not Shute, but I am glad to see the guy working and helping to push this team everyday. He may never be a key in game situations, but he’s the guy you want pushing everyone, everyday in practice. When starters think they can load, or take a day off, he’ll make them look bad, and no one wants that. Teams need guys like Tanner. He’ll help make this team better.Borchardt had the same pts/rebounds(9/3) as Jacobson in 11 less minutes. And he doesn't look like 'Vision Quest' era Micheal Modine either. Win/win for the Huskers.
Tanner is going to be in game situations... he looks like a basketball player this year. He's also got some vertical going now... looks like he could jump over a curb. Brady Heiman looks like he needs a redshirt year (much like Tanner got and Jacobson needed) but he'll probably have to play. He's gotten bigger than they though he could before the season. Still got thrown around a little in the pre-scrimmage practice by Copeland and Borchardt. It’s Matthew, and he was only facing Jacobson, not Shute, but I am glad to see the guy working and helping to push this team everyday.
