How do you feel....Interesting read nonetheless.

Though I'm not pleased with the Huskers being considered 2nd tier, I understand it.

Gotta win something.....

we probably should have been moved down years ago but it seems MR is turning a corner with recruiting and should result in a major uptick in performance in a few years. I see us competing on the same level with Ohio St. and Michigan in 2 years time. all you have to do is look at the number of All Americans we have been turning out recently or for that part and number of All Conference selections. We have been sucking pond water for quite some time.

Emerging reality and Mandel does a good job talking about it.

I think it will take several years of top 5 to get back there in national perception. It's true of almost everyone that stuff that happened before you were born doesn't matter. And new babies are being born every year.

So the way I read this is, 2 years of 10 wins and 2 decent bowl games and we go back in to the elite?

That's pretty even if you ask me. Michigan is getting a little media bias. The only other "legitimate" thing I see is that Harbaugh appears to be turning them around now.

Absolutely agree, but I also get a vibe that they will struggle this year and that Riley has the Huskers headed in the right direction. Maybe they will pass each other on the escalator with Nebraska going up and Michigan going down.

Michigan produces heralded players, in the modern era they've won individual awards, and they send successful guys to the NFL. That said their team results don't measure up to the other Kings on the list. They split a national championship with us in 1997. Their prior championship was 1948. Their national prominence is helped by being a good program with a lot of successful alumni. Almost all their team football excellence was achieved in the era of leather helmets and odd shaped footballs. Heck, prior to 1997 40% of their championships were won before the forward pass was even legalized.

My parents graduated from Michigan in the early 60's, so there's some special meaning when it comes to Michigan. I grew up a Michigan fan even though it was more at a distance (I grew up in Idaho). I was primarily an NFL fan until I moved to Nebraska. I now bleed Husker red, don't like Michigan and don't watch any NFL. I hear what you're saying and fully agree. They also have a lot of East Coast alums.

All it takes is Nebraska winning a playoff spot or a good Rose/Orange/etc win.

We've coasted THIS long on our stellar reputation. Another big season or two should put us back in the conversation, especially since they're putting Johnny-Come-Lately Clemson on that list.
