Best Sports Trips Taken

Was having beers with a group of buddies recently and the conversation turned to favorite sports trips. I'm a big Husker fan and as you can tell I like to golf. Would love to hear other peoples favorites.

My Top Five
1. The Masters 2015. Augusta Georgia - Jordan Spieth's 1st win in a Major. Coolest place ever.
2. 2016 Ryder Cup. Chaska Minnesota - Hazeltine Golf Course - USA kicked the crap out the Euro's.:Usaflag:

3. 2010 Huskers vs K State - Manhattan Kansas - Taylor Martinez's torches the Wildcats. Thought he was our next Heisman winner. Won't ever forget walking out the stadium thinking holy crap, look what we have at QB. :heisman:

4. 1983 Orange Bowl. Miami Florida - Huskers vs Miami - Losing the game sucked but such an electric atmosphere. Gill, Rozier, Fryer. My brother was a walk on. I was 19 and could legally drink the 32 oz beers in the stadium. Yes please, may I have another.

5. (CHEATING ON THIS ONE) Not out of town as I live in Lincoln - 2013 Memorial Stadium - Lincoln NE - Nebraska vs Northwestern - The Westerkamp Hail Mary catch. Bo gave me and a buddy sideline passes. What an incredible sound when he made the catch. Loudest I have ever heard. An awesome experience.
:Mfclap:

1. Rangers at Kings Stanley Cup Game 1
2. USA vs Brazil World Cup ‘94 Palo Alto
3. US Open ‘08 Queens NY
4. Mets vs Astros ‘86 NLCS Games 1,2,6
5. A bunch of Husker games Seattle, Miami, Norman and Tempe stick out.

Only have 3 that make the list.

1. August 1994. Inaugural NASCAR race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
2. San Jose State at Nebraska. Was able to get 6 tickets from the SJSU alumni office (yes, I am). Mrs. Red and I took my older brother and his wife, along with my dad and uncle. It was the first home game dad had been to since he graduated in 1958, and the last game he ever attended. My uncle lived his entire life on the family farm just outside of Western, and it was the only game he ever saw in person. Wish my younger brother had been able to go, but his wife was VERY pregnant with their first.
3. Nebraska at Oregon in 2018. Game sucked, but had a great time on the Huskermax bus. We were treated great by the Oregon fans, who kept offering us beers, telling us how much they enjoyed visiting Lincoln the year before, and making sure we were enjoying ourselves.

Been to tons of other sporting events, but these are the only ones that really stand out.

Huskers at Ucla rose bowl stadium, (2012?) 1st time to rosebowl, we lost a shootout, 1100+ total yards...

Opening day at Dodger stadium

#1The 72 Orange bowl in Miami and a close second was escorting Mike Riley to the airport to catch his plane to Oregon

2002 Masters. Tiger won that year. I stood about 12 ft from him as he teed off on 15.

2016 Ohio State. Terrible loss, but the family and I rented an RV and drove out. It was a great time.

2009 Gator Bowl. Bo and Suh beat Dabo and Clemson.

2010 Holiday. NU SMOKES Arizona.

In no particular order
1) Cubs WS (games 3-5) in Chicago 2016.
What a crazy atmosphere. Go Cubs Go btw
2) 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
My wife and I hadn’t been gone long from the area when the bomb went off, so that’s a huge plus..
3) TO’s last game vs Tennessee in the Orange Bowl. For obvious reasons and another NC.
4) Old Comiskey Park for “Disco Demolition Night” Absolutely epic. Still have my
Loop T-shirt from those days.
5) Bruno’s Classic Golf Tournament / Pro Am where I got to hang out with Charles Barkley for a couple holes and shoot the breeze. About 15 years ago or so, but I’ve been a big fan of “Sir Charles” ever since. Very cool down to earth dude and funny as all hell.

These are the 1st that come to mind. Course every Husker game I go to tends to fill me with great joy so they are all good in my book.

GBR!!

Great topic. Mine are in no particular order as well:

1) 2011 Masters on Sunday - Schwartzel birdied the final 4 holes including a 20ft putt on 18 to win it
2) 2007 Fiesta Bowl - Boise State vs Oklahoma - I was 12 rows up in the endzone where the hook-n-ladder, statue of liberty, and half back pass were.
3) 2016 NLCS when Chicago Cubs won their first Pennant in 108 years.
4) 2016 NCAA Basketball Tournament Northern Iowa vs A&M - A&M was down 12 with 44 seconds left and came back to win the game in overtime
5) 2011 Nebraska Ohio State football game - Nebraska comes back from 21pt second half deficit to beat OSU 34-27 in the first Big 10 game at Memorial Stadium
6) 2006 Nebraska Season Opener against Louisiana Tech when I proposed to my wife in the North Stadium
7) 2018 MNF in Lambeau when Aaron Rodgers brought back the pack against the 49ers on the final drive to win the game

1975 World Series@Boston
2015 US Open at Chambers Bay Wa
1987 Hawaiian Open, Honolulu
2005 Neb vs OU CC
2006 Neb vs USC at coliseum ( met Pete Carrol at USC cocktail party)

2016 Ohio St.
2015 Minnesota
2013 Michigan
2013 I saw the greatest hockey game ever played. Icehogs and Griffins had the greatest hockey fight ever, lasted several minutes, benches cleared, several players ejected, like 240 combined minutes of time in the penalty box, coaches were trying to get at each other. It was glorious. Then a couple days later my buddies and I went to a snoozer between the Bulls and Lakers, but I got to see Bryant, Nash, Metta, Howard, Jimmy Buckets, and Nate Robinson play.

Ha. The Oldsmobile Scramble. Played in it many times but never quite made it to the finals. Biggest sandbagger event ever. Trust me I know cause I played with plenty of them.
