He was in town for Junior Day...
“It’s kind of a working relationship where I bring them up and say, ‘Hey look, if you’ll just listen a little better, work a little harder, this is the kind of place you end up at,’” Sims said. “Then Nebraska wants to see who filters out and hopefully we can get them there.”
The Huskers have more certain interest in at least one player at the school: Massive freshman tackle Bamidele Olaseni. Olaseni, listed at 6-foot-8 and 360 pounds, has offers from NU, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Oklahoma State and others. He could not make the trip, though, because NCAA rules for the spring allow only qualifiers out of high school or players who have been at junior colleges for a year to make visits.
Mills, Telfort and Oldin qualified out of high school and went to FBS schools, while West has been at GCCC for a full year.
“We could have brought about nine more guys,” Sims said. “(These guys) were the qualifiers. There were dudes that I would have liked to have brought, but by NCAA rule they couldn’t come.”
Olaseni and Mills are the two who have offers now. The NU coaching staff has made it clear that they don’t envision regularly signing several juco players in a cycle and that they’re committed to finding the “right” players.

Yeah, I read about Telfort's circumstances. The Nebraska staff most feel like that was a one time, isolated incident that will not be repeated. This is where having someone like Held on staff really helps. Telfort comes with two things: a ton of raw talent and potential - and - a big red flag. His circumstances for why he's not at Florida should give a lot of teams pause. Held's juco connections and Sims' relationship with Jovan DeWitt gives Nebraska some insight on what kind of kid this really is and if he's truly regretful and not someone who will blow another opportunity.
