Correction: Consolation Round 2 run simultaneously as QFs. Smith lost 4-3 in another controversial finish. Locked hands challenge in 2OT was denied. Also, seemed very close to a reversal in that 2 OT. But, Smith really lost because he could not escape during the entirety of the 2nd regular...

Wrestling starts in 12 minutes or so, will be fast and furious with quarterfinals up first. Busy session for Big Red! I discovered last night that you can stream individual mats on ESPN+. We need some more upsets in our favor!

Pretty sure not. Stuart is Holt County, not sure if they still have an independent school or have combined...since I was last living there in 1980, much likely has changed.

Stuart is my connection to Nebraska athletics. Lived there during my formative years in the late 1970s. Could keep up with the team through Sioux City TV stations after moving to NW Iowa in 1980.

Great second round. 7 to the quarterfinals! Van Dee fell 2-0 on what I heard had the Nebraska coaches hot at the end (was listening to an Iowa City radio station doing PbP on my drive home...never heard a radio PbP before). Hutmacher still to wrestle on the consolation side tonight.

Switching Huskers to a 7 over Dayton would have solved that problem and creates a juicy Nebraska vs Iowa State second round matchup in Omaha.

So close. Seems could have swapped to get an ISU vs Nebraska matchup in Omaha.

I think they'll be ok there, but either KState or Colorado could knock them out in Sweet 16.
