An important bounce-back today and, hopefully, a sign of resolve for a good week ahead against the ‘Hawks and Hawkeyes! Great plate discipline and a really nice tough outing from Will Walsh when absolutely needed.
GBR!
Arrggghhhh…but the Royals have won five straight! First time in forever that hasn’t seemed preceded by a longer losing skid or multiple multi-game losing streaks, so there’s that.
Husker swagger dented in the last couple games, but gotta get those arms work and tighten up the D (still!)...
Swagger at 22-6! And I don’t think we’ve gotten to our offensive production potential yet. Reliable starting pitching, strike throwing relief and confidence to get things done as needed seems to be our calling card. Let’s win tomorrow, then look ahead to next week and Piscataway to keep it...
Baseball can be brutal, one of the few things you can control is hustle, so making that happen late a testament to the staff and on-field leadership of this team.
Good outcome, good day! GBR!
Headline: Huskers Scratch Out B10 Road Sweep
Maybe a lot to say otherwise but, in the end, 3-0 league record (and 20-5 overall!) all that matters.
GBR!
Some stony pitching today with runners on. These cold weather wins are nothing to complain about, lacking style points notwithstanding.
Is there anything less rewarding to college baseball punditry than predicting off-elite teams? Iowa, pre-season darling, loaded with pitching (allegedly)...
Just good games to win like this. Yeah, we like to pile the runs up but some days it ain’t there. Studliness from Worthley in particular, but staff kudos all the way around.
I’ll drop a comment about last night’s basketball game too: bummer finish, but great to be in the mix following a fun...
Schedule has found us playing teams with pretty good records. And we are 12-5, which ain’t too shabby. Plus, I’m confident there’s upside to this squad from here, especially some of the young arms under Childress.
GBR!
I guess the good parts of five errors are (1) we won and (2) the goofs don’t tax the staff’s ERAs. But can’t be staking teams and expecting 15-hit outbursts to save us. Of course it’s a W and, yes, the bats! Some bad luck with the DPs probably kept us from adding another field goal or even a...
Good bounce back win. Got on top, pressed the lead. No walks from the staff! Even yesterday, tough as it was for Drew, he attacked the zone and gave no walks. A little more command, especially given the wind, was called for. But he’s getting some long-awaited experience (and top-notch...
Nice start so far, the 1-2 record of the first weekend giving way to a 6-1 road record against teams that came into their series with us undefeated. Lots to like, not least of which has been a staff throwing strikes, giving up few freebies and keeping us in games while the bats warm up. Plenty...
It’s why getting the ball in play versus the K is so important in college ball. Fielding NOWHERE near as sharp as even lowest level pro ball. Force ‘em to execute consistently.
Aw, crud. Bummer on the two infield hits that put otherwise pretty good starting and relief pitching in the blender. Encouraged, but I’m always optimistic…especially two games in.
GBR!
Great pitching! What a turnaround from last year’s opening series at USD. Nice job Brett Sears, no BBs and kept himself in the game with a decently lowish pitch count despite the K tally he had. Clutch late inning hitting but will hope to see fewer Ks from our guys once they get in the flow...
A few quick things:
1) Wow! Gutty win, really happy for Coach and team, we’re probably better than our record?
2) Iowa shoulda gotten a 5-second call on the second-to-last possession that resulted in a layup for them.
3) What was the NU T for? Was following via GameCast and couldn’t tell.
4)...
Tough loss for the basketball team tonight in Champaign, but a good showing aside from all the second chances Illinois got on the boards and from the men in stripes. Let’s start talking baseball, though. Couple of good OWH articles have shown up recently in preview of the upcoming season to...
