Predicted final conference standings

This is quite interesting to look at! Ohio St., according to Warren Nolan, will be a beast the rest of the way...finishing 25-5! It will be fun to see how close he is on some of these and the predicted RPI's!

I did my own predictions at the beginning of the year and Had Nebraska 21-10 after 31 gms., but with a 5-1 conf. record. :(
Upcoming series with Iowa I had NU taking the series 2-1.

Most of us won't handle finishing 5th in the conference very well at all (even though it could happen)

Prevent this prediction by taking the Ohio St series on the road. Seems thats a key series according to Warren.

Also, the top 6 teams in the B1G are predicted to have a higher RPI at the end of the season than they do now!

We will need some series sweeps to move up in the standings. Winning every series two out of three will only move us to 15-9.

NU is playing as bad as i can remember, cant hit, cant pitch, errors, base running mistakes

Well, in any case, I was looking toward next season, not this season, where we excel. One can only hope we do well this season. I don't see it.

Sure hope I eat humble pie. :)

I wonder why Wisconsin does not field a baseball team?

Probably the same reasons that Iowa State, Northern Iowa, Colorado and Drake don't: $$$

Its a give and take with Title IX and $$$. Remember three years ago when Oregon cut its wrestling program to field a baseball team (because it was jealous Oregon St was getting those CWS titles)? Oregon then hired the Cal St Fullerton coach. Look where Oregon is now in the rankings.

For pretty much the same reason we do not field an ice hockey team. I'm sure men's and women's ice hockey generate a lot more revenue in Wisconsin than baseball would. Likewise, I suspect baseball is more popular in Nebraska than ice hockey would be.

Actually, I don't think it's a matter of what sport... if they win, Husker fans will show up in droves. The Omaha Lancers and Lincoln Stars pack their joints. I don't really know about UNO hockey, but I'm betting they have quite an attendance. Hockey is a pretty rotten TV sport -- but live and in person, it's one of the best.
