Here's the Temple coaching history. Since the 80's, nobody has stayed at Temple very long. There's a reason for that . . . it's Temple. You go there to get a foot in the door and try to take a step up when you have success (better programs and more $$$)--or you get fired because it's Temple.

So Rhule turns Temple around and Baylor comes knocking with a chance to coach in a far better conference, a shot at the playoffs if he can turn it around and for way more money than Temple can afford. I suppose you wouldn't do that yourself, right? You'd keep slogging away at the corner Jiffy Lube when a Cadillac dealership in another state wants you to be the GM?
Rhule gets his shot at the better school and turns that around, too . . . so much so that the NFL comes calling with generational money and THE chance that most coaches live for--a shot at THE show. Rhule takes what may be a once-in-a-lifetime chance. Doesn't end up working out. But you wouldn't have jumped at that chance if it was you? You would have not only stayed at Jiffy Lube when Caddy called--you would have stayed at Jiffy Lube when Ferrarri called and wanted you to take over an entire district?
I can hardly blame Rhule for stepping up when he had the chance. That's pretty much what the coaching world is these days--just look at the other schools. My guess is that Rhule might be ready to settle in, having taken a shot at the Holy Grail and it failing. If he DOES come up with a shot at some other University in the next few years--that means he's turned NU around. Guess I'm good with taking that chance.
