Alberts isn't going to hire one of those guys or even someone like them. He is smarter than that, and he has a big enough checkbook that he doesn't need to settle for dregs.

I wasn't happy about the Riley hire but I still supported him until it became obvious he wasn't going to get it done. Eichorst was an idiot though. Alberts is not an idiot.
The last two sentences are very true.

I keep asking: what has he done? He's 16-10.

Does anyone remember Larry Coker? That dude went 35-3 his 1st 3 years. Maybe we should add him to the list.
wen't 12-2 at Baylor last year and had great defenses at Wisconsin (9th, 9th & 2nd nationally) and LSU (5th, 12th, 30th, 32nd)

He led Baylor their best season ever (finishing 5th in the AP poll) beating a top-10 Ole-miss team in the sugar bowl

had a rough first season in the w/l column at baylor, but if you look at the game log, they were super competitive. when it was over he replaced his bum of an OC and finished top-5 the next year

there is extremely little not to love about Dave Aranda

i think his stint in Jacksonville does speak to who he is as a person/leader - and it does not speak well

His 219 games in CFB with 3 national championships and 11 Top 10 finishes in 17 seasons DOES speak well. He's not coming here but I think it's sort of crazy that people are concerned about hiring one of the greatest college football coaches of all time.

Like I heard someone say the other day, do you want to play against the team that does hire him?
Exactly, me personally, I'll pass. People would be happy we don't hire him then be mad when we lose to his team but guess what, they may have an accusation or two, but also guess what, they're 12-0 :Rolf::Rolf::Rolf:

Right because Nick Saban and Lou Holtz are awful leaders because of their failures as NFL coaches
it's about more than the W/L record at Jacksonville for me
In interviews with nearly two dozen coaches, former front office staff members, agents and current and former Jaguars over the past two months, one recurring theme arose: The organizational culture Meyer fostered proved problematic from the start. And all the while, Meyer was leading yet another season of futility in Jacksonville, now with Trevor Lawrence, a generational talent at quarterback. Meyer, perhaps the coach most visibly and pathologically destroyed by losing, was losing like never before. What's more, the team wasn't just losing; it was regressing.
That's when Lambo -- the most accurate kicker in franchise history, who was released by the Jaguars on Oct. 19 -- revealed in an interview to the Tampa Bay Times that Meyer, frustrated with a rare bout of inconsistency from Lambo earlier in 2021, kicked him in the leg during a preseason warm-up.

Lambo alleged a slew of other misdeeds on Meyer's part. That Meyer, the self-professed special teams evangelist, wouldn't address his specialists by name, but rather by position ("kicker, punter, long snapper") or crude epithet ("s---bag, dips---"). That Meyer took exception to Lambo taking exception to being kicked in the leg, and voiced as much in practice, within earshot of the rest of the team.

"I'm the head ball coach, I'll kick you whenever the f--- I want," Lambo says Meyer told him. Meyer denies Lambo's description of the interaction.

I do think that a Matt C is close to the same hire as Mike Riley. I realize his record is better, but not by much-61% vs 56% so Matt Campbell wins 1 more game every two years. No Thank You!

I am almost at the point that I would be OK with weekend furloughs for Thunder Collins to coach the running backs if I thought it would help. Almost.
