11 threads with a last post after 1 am Central. Another 5 after midnight. 4 after 2 am. By multiple posters. Looks like a dozen plus.

I'm a habitual insomniac so I always surf by here in the middle of the night and can say this is unusual

It's the pain of no longer sucking, boys. We're way better than we were but just not quite there yet. Not sure how far we'll go but this actually beats the hell out of where we've been. It's actually worth losing sleep over.

I’m really spent from another night at the Husker Casino.

Man, I really had some fun when that little ball landed on my number. It really kept me engaged and thinking that I was on the verge of winning “the big one”.

But ultimately I ended up losing more than I won and went home bummed out.

Oh well, I’ll get paid next week and be right back at the table cheering (hoping) for that little ball to land on my number… to overcome all the odds and to (please) send me home a winner.

At 3 - 4, in year four of our HC's reign, no, we still suck.
We used to only lose games like this to unranked teams, but now we are doing it to ranked ones so its progress I guess. I fear there will be a couple more like this this season, and I'm really anxious that we will finish with a losing record again. It pains me to think about having to have to spend another 8 months hoping SF finally figures it out, and I fear this might just be who we are under Frost.

Woke up at 2, trying to figure out what is still missing
I thought about this too, on the drive home.
We don't have a QB who has "it." Martinez is a good athlete but he's not championship caliber. He's good enough to keep us in the game, or even get us back into the game, but he is, for some reason, unable to lead us through adversity (he is, in fact, often the cause if it.)
I don't want to pick on Martinez. He's a good kid and a good athlete and deserves respect. But I'm convinced that what's missing is a true leader on the offense--someone who can walk the walk as well as talk the talk. Moreover, I sense the team knows it. The team absolutely deflated walking off the field after his disasterous fumble. This story has played out so many times over his career here. In the game, victory in sight, foiled by a Martinez blunder.

Three very winnable games left on the schedule, Minnesota, Purdue, Wisconsin. We need to win all of them. We'll probably win two. The Illinois loss is looming large.

I think you said it better than I have. I also don’t want to pile on the kid. He made some really exciting good plays. He just can’t deliver at the end. It’s not just him but we’ve seen it play out multiple times now.

This. Great leaders/winners get it done with clutch performances in crunch time. I feel for the kid as these epic failures have to hurt him personally. I will not criticize his character as he seems to accept responsibility and makes no excuses, a circumstance we could all learn from. The end game now is to see how he responds and how the team responds to him. I wish him nothing but success from here on out. The ball is in his court. Hang on to the ball.
