#2 Quarterback

Who is the number 2 Quarterback if AM goes down during the non-conference games?

Vedral if early . . . the kid will be hard to keep on the bench, though, methinks. Hopefully we don't see either unless it's garbage time. Preferably on the road against CU when Martinez lays 50 on the buffs by the 4th qtr.

This is the poetic justice dream I have as payback for "the twist".

I think hanging half a hunnerd against the sCUM and their new “defensive specialist” coach would be just fine. Follow it up with a majority red-clad crowd singing the nana, nananana, hey hey ey, goodbye song, and I’ll be happy as a pig in ———.

I did vote Luke but not sure I really believed it. Thus my starting the poll. It should be interesting what the final depth chart shows in a couple of weeks. I'm guessing there will be 2-3 sharing the number 2 spot. I could be wrong. At some point you have to start giving the majority of the reps with the first team to 1 or 2 candidates.

For the early games, I went with Vedral. He has been with and knows the system best, at this time. Plus, I believe the coaches want to redshirt McCaffrey for the future. Depending what happens during the season, I do expect to see McCaffrey in late season games, per the 4 game limit.

I think in a perfect world you are correct. However limiting his playing time in the early season could be a hinderance if something were to happen to AM in the 4th or 5th game. Then we have what could be the better replacement for AM that hasn't gained any experience and we are basically saying we are stuck with Vedral. It will be interesting to see what happens. I guess it will come down to who is the clear cut number 2. If its Luke I don't think you save him. I don't think you worry about a red shirt just to give him another year after AM leaves. We have other high profile QB recruits coming also. Id worry about NOW. But then again......I'm not Scott Frost.

I think Vedral's better than we've seen. Last year I don't think the coaches were preparing him to actually be the backup since he wasn't eligible. When the NCAA declared him eligible halfway through the season, I think it caught everybody (Noah included) by surprise, and he wasn't really ready for it.

This year he's preparing properly. There's a reason he was Mckenzie Milton's backup at UCF. The coaches have a lot of confidence in him. I think he's our clear-cut #2 guy for now.

I think the coaches are hoping to redshirt McCaffrey and get him ready for next year.

Ha

Happy as a pig in Colorado?

Happy as a pig in Texas?

I really hope it's not McCaffrey. I'd hate to use up a year of eligibility now.

Vedral proved more than capable at UCF. And he definitely has to be an upgrade over Bunch.
I guess it depends on whether you think we need him more now or in 2023. We have an even higher rated QB than Luke coming in 2020 and who knows regarding 2021 and 2022. Not sure if I'm a firm believer in saving a QB. But then again.......I'm not Scott Frost.

A year of practice is going to do a lot for Vedral. I saw some good things from Bunch, and it's been said that McCaffrey is picking up things super fast.

I went with Bunch, but McCaffrey could earn the job if it comes to it
