No way he's even being considered. With your connections, do you really think Servais is coming to Lincoln? You will probably know before the rest of us so, truthfully is he coming or is it someone else?

Lol I was just quoting that tweet and mocking it. If it’s Servais, that is a huge disappointment. Erstad had a winning record and something like a 10 game win streak against Crayton. If Erstad is as bad as some say, getting Servais would have to be an awful hire. With your connections, do you really think Servais is coming to Lincoln? I believe I brought him up before, but what are our thoughts on if we would hire Rich Maloney? He turned around Ball State and took the Michigan job where he won 2 or 3 conference titles, and even made it to a super regional. However, he eventually "mutually agreed to leave Michigan" after his last few years really took a dive. He is now back at Ball State and doing pretty well again. He checks a lot of boxes that Moos is looking for., but does his "firing" at Michigan make him not as great of a hire?

That's what i'm trying to figure out. So we wouldn't take this guy even though he has Power 5 success. And I get it, because he was essentially let go from Michigan. But he checks the Moos boxes. People are already mad that we are looking at Will Bolt and he is being promoted by Erstad (side note, I was not aware that A&M hit worse than Nebraska this year). Because apparently he doesn't have P5 experience. People are pissed that Servais' name is getting thrown out, and I would be mad too as he has never coached P5, and Erstad actually had something like a 10 game winning streak against him up until the last couple years. So he would be out.Oh man, people would lose their crap. I'd take him, though.

Childress has had success, and I think people have that name stuck in their mind, but he apparently isn't coming. Or Moos is trying to throw people off the scent. I just really don't think there is a guy that is at a winning P5 job that is going to head to Nebraska. Would be like Frost leaving Nebraska for Central Florida, as B1G baseball is mid-major.
He seems to trend down the longer he is at a school. Maybe not the best recruiter? Or maybe the message wears thin after a time?
I agree finding someone excellent is going to be a struggle, but i'm not impressed with Maloney. Not that i have to be impressed for him to be hired by NU.
I'm indifferent on Maloney, could be swayed. Just know he checks a lot of 'Moos boxes'. He did get to a super regional in year 5 and hosted a regional in year 6, which is pretty cool for a B1G team. After reviewing his record and information, I dont see him as an upgrade from Erstad? In my opinion I think Moos would rather open the checkbook a bit more and get someone with a little more upside?
Well that is why Moos is getting paid the big bucks, lol. Whoever he selects I will still love my Nebraska Cornhuskers. I think a lot of College coaching is who they can bring in as assistants.Agree, way different than the SF hire, which was basically "he's the guy, go get him and everyone is happy" or the FH hire which was "hometown boy comes home to become a legend and everyone is happy". Childress may have been the only name that would have filled the "everyone is happy" box this time.
I’ve been hearing no go on Childress from players and national media on twitter. Sounds like Bolt may be the guy, it’s certanly who Darin was advocating for. But Moos wanted a proven coach, so that could be what is taking so long. He would instantly up our JUCO recruiting which could take us to the next level (Erstad recruited high school really well but was horrible with JUCOs). And people raved about our hitting while Bolt was here, but A&M fans not happy with it (had a worse average than Nebraska this year). For what it's worth... Kevin Kugler was on 1620 saying he would be surprised if its NOT Will Bolt at this point.
What, a tweet about a rumor shouldn't be taken as gospel?Couldn't be more incorrect.
