I honestly believe that that depends on who you ask. People who were/are familiar with the band, Dickie got all kinds of accolades.

Fair analysis about being in Duane's shadow, that applied to a lot of musicians not even in the Allman Brothers band. Great player indeed(Dickie Betts). I never got to see Duane live, but I did Dickie and the AB's. It was one helluva a great show.
