Husker men win Big Ten Track & Field Championship

Pepin Named B1G Men's Indoor Coach of the Year
http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=211792841

The honor marks Pepin's sixth selection as Big Ten Coach of the Year since the Huskers moved to the conference in 2011-12, and it is his 28th all-time conference coaching accolade. The 2019 Big Ten men's indoor title was Pepin's 73rd career conference title and 43rd indoors. He has guided the Husker men to three Big Ten indoor titles in the last five seasons.

Can anyone explain to me the difference between indoor and outdoor track aside from one being indoor and one being outdoor? Are the events pretty much the same?

This might help:

"There are many differences between the events competed in indoor track and outdoor track. These differences are mainly due to space constraints in an indoor facility. Outdoor competitors race 100 meters, whereas indoor they compete in 60-meter races. Indoor includes the weight throw, however this event is not contested outdoor. In the outdoor season there is the addition of the 4x100 meter relay, 10,000 meter run, 400 meter hurdle race, javelin throw, hammer throw, discus and the 3,000 meter steeplechase."

I didn't look at the link, just looked at your comments. There are also a few events contested indoor that aren't contested outdoors, such as the DMR (distance medley relay) and 600m.

It isn't always consistent either. Example: the Big Ten indoor includes the 600m, but this is not contested in all conferences and isn't contested at the national meet. There are other examples like this.
