Thanks for putting these threads together. They are a nice resource for me.

The story about Brett's commitment also shows Nebraska as having 5 total commits in the class... the 3 listed in the OP, Brett, and also Evan Shawver from Amherst, Ohio.

Evan is listed as a Starting Pitcher. 6'0" 160lbs

Welcome both Brett and Evan.

GBR!!!

I'm not sure we're going to see Mr. Hammitt in Lincoln...

Curious what you were basing this on as I only found one video (very impressive). But I though the same as your post when I saw we pulled him in over Arkansas, made me think we were going after a little higher quality talent. But I haven't seen stats on him (saw he hit aboug .320 as a freshman) but don't know if that was full stats or not.

I watched this video:

And this video:

His hands are incredible. His swing is a hair long, but man, his bat speed looks incredible.

Edit: I'll add this, if we get this kid, I will be impressed.

EBR used the term "power hitting shortstop." Those words rarely go together, I was intrigued, so I took the time to do a little research.

Ok, that's the one video I watched then hadn't seen the other. I agree his swing was a bit long but his hands were so fast it can more than likely make up for it at the college level. Again, I wonder if we are up'ing our game on who we are going after? The pitcher I just added was averaging over 1.5 Ks per inning as a freshman. That's impressive.

I hope we are seeing Erstad adjust. If he is landing guys like this, we should get to where we need to be. As far as Hammit goes, I have no doubt that Erstad will get him shortened up when he gets to college. That small length in his swing may be what keeps him from getting drafted...

If Erstad is targeting guys that have minor defects ( I think we talked about this earlier), then he is on to something.

I like it.... good start to our 2018 class in my opinion. Long ways away but a good start nonetheless.
