NU-Illinois
Pretty winnable game here. Illinois has been terrible since the Big 10 started...losing to a pretty weak NW last time out.
More Shields and less Gallegos and Talley, please. Those two have been putting up nearly 30 shots a game combined hitting 33% in the last 5. Might as well do a "heat check" on Shields early and see if his PSU performance will carry over. Obviously he's not going to 10-11 every night but at this point he's earned the green light v. some others who simply can't put the ball in the bucket yet feel the need to shoot as often as possible.

It will be interesting to see how the new-found stardom affects Shavon Shields. I often worry about that next game after the "game of your life" from a young player.
Somewhat lost in the excitement of Shields' performance was the return of Brandon Ubel. Aside from losing Peltz for the year, NU looks to be about as close to 100% healthy as you could expect this time of year.

Jon Groce the coach of Illinois. He was the guy a lot of Husker fans wanted last year. But he really wasn't interested in the NU job.

Illinois is well rested and have plenty of good players. But they have been tanking of late.

Yep. The Ohio U. coach.
Illinois somehow has wins over both Butler and Gonzaga ... but they have tanked recently. Capable team that is hard to figure out.

Good point. Shields does need to play within himself...not try to do too much. But if I'm miles I do tell him to be aggressive. Hell, he's obviously ok with the Dynamic Duo pumping up shots at a wild rate...no reason not to give SHields the same leeway.

Wonder if he would have been interested a year or two before when Doc SHOULD have been cut loose.
