Not necessarily. The brighter the spotlight on the program, the more speculation there will be about Pelini's "antics". The guy could act like an exuberant soccer mom for the rest of his career, but it seems like his reputation is sealed.

We do that on here: "You know that Bo Pelini is no Tom Osborne."

Unfortunately, Bo follows one of the greatest ever in the game...not many would look good in that comparison.

Speaking from both sides of their mouth, utsker. In the first piece they talk about the negative "culture" that has been allowed in Lincoln, with the administration's consent. Then they talk about what a great guy the Athletic Director is? Strange to say the least...

This has been picked at from time to time since the TM incident. Now it is out there again for all to see. No matter what is fair or not... If there are other incidents this year it will be hounded ad nausea, again. Win out

Win out. Give ESPN the signal finger, and move on. Bo has improved his "antics" and he can keep improving if it's important to him. Perhaps his wife recorded this "Gameday" and Bo will get to see it at home.

Meh ... they could do this on a quarter of the programs in CFB. Seems like they've got a hard-on for NU ... oh well, keep winning and recruits will keep coming.

Alot of Bo defenders in the house...I'm guilty too, however, I realize if Pelini was at another school (Arkansas, Michigan, OSU, etc) and had no ties to Nebraska almost all of us on the board, including the serious koolaid drinkers that outright defend his alctions, would be all over him, just like you (they) are with the rationalizations and comparisons to Kelly, Tuberville, etal.
Truth said, his demeanor is a factor in the public perception of the program and the bad press he creates. Winning helps, but his lack of the CEO image, regardless of what Kelly or the others do, has a negative effect on the program.

    Whats Howards twitter account?

Has nothing to do with Kool-Aid drinking on my part ... I simply don't have an issue with that STYLE of coaching. I've had both kinds of coaches and never had a problem with either. I'm sure some people do, but, given the players' comments, it doesn't seem to be a problem.

Tubberville slaps an assistant's hat and headset off and he got about 30 seconds in that segment.

The only thing that is important here is how the players, view, respond, and play for their coach. I'm not sure Nebraska is interested in a recruit (and his parents) that are stupid enough to make a decision based on what Desmond Howard or Kirk Herbstreit say. I'll take the recruits who are smart enough to go check out the school, meet Bo, and make the decision for themselves.

This segment will be forgotten by next week anyway. Yup, Bo is a fiery maniac on the sidelines.... we all know.

It's a conspiricy. Desmond has ties to a wealthy I hate Bo booster who influenced his reporting.

I'm a Bo supporter and I do think he gets a ton more attention than he truly deserves as he's improved.

That said, perception is reality. Bo is going to need to own this and continue to improve. The cameras will go away when there is nothing left to see.

I really think the university needs to push back on this perhaps. It was almost jokingly suggested that the Chancellor "blames the media" and implied that the Stafford incident was part of some deeper "culture" issue. This kind of hatchet job by ESPN damages the NU brand and could negatively influence recruiting. IMO the university/athletic department needs to fight back on this one.

Correction: the cameras will go away a few seasons after there is nothing left to see. Sports coverage is all about capturing drama and emotion. They'll keep the Bo-cam going ad nauseum as PNW said. If the program wins, and the program keeps producing good citizens, the program will prove there is nothing to see here.

    Fair points, Bearkat.

What struck me was that Howard kept talking about Bo making it personal. Attacking a players family or girlfriend and then saying Stafford isn't the kind of guy to put up with that???? What the hell was that??? Is there a transcript of what Bo said that I missed???

I agree, it'll take awhile. I believe Bo will continue to improve because he doesn't want a perception out there like this - real or not.
