Sky Sports understands that Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have both lodged deadline day bids for Clint Dempsey.

Aston Villa were first to make an offer early on Friday, but they withdrew their interest when Dempsey made it known he was not interested in joining them.

FOXSoccer reporting that Liverpool has made an improved bid for Dempsey, who reportedly earlier today turned down a move to Aston Villa despite the Villans reaching a transfer fee agreement with Fulham.

If he had his choice, I think Tottenham would be ideal of the teams rumored. He loves London, wouldn't have to move his family, and would be with a team that spends the kind of money you need to spend to play in Champions League.

Not surprised....they have low-balled Fulham the whole time....plus the tapping-up charges they have against Liverpool....Villa offered 7M pounds...last I heard Liverpool offered 5-6M...

Do you think Lvrpl is low balling because they know Clint wants to go there? I mean AV's offer was accepted right? How much more could Randy Lerner have offered?

It is possible that that is what Liverpool is doing, but Fulham may also be trying to get more out of them since they know Dempsey is keen on the Reds.

Have a feeling the Liverpool-Fulham Dempsey negotiations will have about a half dozen or more offers/counter offers B4 something gets done

Going to call it now, if Tottenham snags Dempsey, they finish in a Champions League spot...at the expense of Liverpool.
