If I tell you that USC is a "legitimate" national title contender this year, is that the same thing as saying that USC is a "forcible" national title contender?

I would like it explained to me from the conservative perspective. He has been one of the champions of the ultraright conservatives stance on abortion. He and Paul Ryan have sponsored several antiabortion bills but now that he used "legitimate" instead of "forcible" rape he is regarded as a pariah. Why?

By asking why there was a difference between using the terms "legitimate" and "forcible," the clear implication was that you considered the terms to be synonymous (or at the very least similar).

If you understand that these two words have different meanings, then there is no need for you to ask "why" there is condemnation from the right.

A better question is to ask why Democrats are NOT condemning him for those statements. Do Democrats believe that women can biologically prevent pregnancy in instances of rape? Do Democrats believe that some rapes could be considered illegitimate?

Or are they just using Akin's ignorance on very real and sensitive issues as a cheap political tool to claim a seat for their party in the Senate?

From their reaction and how they have been ridiculing the right I would have to start leaning in the direction that maybe they do...but then again they could just being playing politics and using rape to score points.
