    Puncher or Counterpuncher?

Which are you when it comes to arguments with those close to you? For me it depends. I have to be REALLY wound up before I throw the first bomb of an altercation. Now that being said, I will resort to the most downright dirty cutting stuff I can find if things are not resolved in a matter of a few minutes. I am renowned for taking a relatively benign argument and escalating it just to have it done. Usually ends up with quiet time for reflection and then apologies, but those around me have learned not to start with me over piddley stuff. Life is just too damn short to sweat the small stuff.

    So which are you?

    Puncher or Counterpuncher?

I know that I come across way different on HM, but in those kinds of arguments I tend to be the bridge builder and peacemaker.

When I get snarky is when it's obvious after some time that the other party is so closed minded that they're not even trying to listen or understand.

I get heated but then the Theta brain waves seem to take over and has a calming affect.
    A technique learned through meditation.

Small children function mainly at the Theta where adults function mostly in the beta state.
Theta allows calming as its mostly shown to be most active during sleep

It takes a lot to get me to scream or even raise my voice. I'm one trying to prevent things from escalating between others w/ the very rare exception that a guy is to over the top wrong and borderline evil in his actions/words. Then I may just step back and not do anything.

I've pretty much always been like this, but even more so after reading "How to win friends and influence people". Which BTW is a book that EVERYONE should read. I know people say that about a lot of books...but really..everyone should w/ this one.

I thought this was a funny picture.
