    GM - Chevrolet Tahoe

Went and looked at a new 2012 Chevy Tahoe today. I have a 2007 that I bought brand new for $29k, todays price for a new Tahoe $53k. I think I figured out why GM is failing. A 2012 Tahoe for $53k and the minute you drive it off the lot its worth $35k. I found 2012 used Tahoes with around $10k miles on it in the $35 to $38 range depending on the options that is redonkulously stupid.

Must have been really decked out if it cost $53,000. The website says MSRP starts at $39,000.

Doesn't take much to get it up to $53k updrade in engine and 4x4 and they are right there. I don't think I saw any Tahoes on the lot that were less the $50k MSRP. That $39k will get you the small engine and a worthless 2WD SUV might as well buy the Camaro and have fun driving it.

I thought this was a question of what is the only GM vehicle not recalled. Get a Subaru; you'll love it.

Have an 09 Avalanche, love every inch of it! Would I drop $54k on a 2013 Black Diamond? not on your life, as there are already used ones for $45k.

Its not just a GM issue though.

I bought a loaded Z71 with 6,000 miles for $26k that was 1 yr old. It would have been over $50k new.

Real good depreciation is 50% value in 5 years with normal miles. So 50% in 1 yr with low miles is terrible.

Exactly I'm not sure how they even sell a new one you basically throw $15k into the trash can as soon as you leave the lot. I have a 2007 Tahoe and love it, but no way would I have dropped $40k on it let alone $50k. Whats odd is that their are very slim differences between the 2007 and 2012 I wonder why the cost has went up by double in 5yrs. It has the same engine, same body moldings, same frame, same interiors, same dash, same air bags it doesn't make sense.
