He just loves the attention. I hope he stays for my friends sake, but in the end I think he's gone.

First of all, it's basically a made up thing, much like high school football does. But there are a couple tournaments that claim to have the best teams there and if you win then you are crowned champion. However, there are usually two or three powerhouses missing so it's all speculation.

This is a tough one to have an opinion on. On one hand, I don't really like how this kid craves the attention. I'm sure there's an insecurity issue in there somewhere, but c'mon kid, you're a really good HS basketball player. There are lots of really good HS basketball players playing in the Turkish basketball league, so lets keep things in perspective here.
On the other hand, he's got a once in a lifetime opportunity, that really isn't all that unusual when you compare to other sports like tennis, golf, or even baseball and soccer. So I can't really fault the kid for, what looks like, taking the opportunity and running with it.
Still, this shows just how hard it'll be for NU basketball to compete in the major D1 basketball recruiting game.

He may be the second coming of Michael Jordan, but I really don't care for the fact that he is so willing to dump his coach and teammates for personal glory. A little loyalty would be nice.
And I completely agree with your final statement.
I really hate Penn State! (And I'm not that wild about Iowa either.)

It does seem to bring in a question of character when evaluating these decisions. If you are willing to move that far because of BBall when you already could pretty much go to any college you want, it makes one think that balance may be an issue no matter how much he says academics are a priority.
It seems to me that a lot of football recruits who do the same thing, move from school to school to better their football position aren't very mentally tough and seem to flake out in college. The QB from Texas, Witt I believe, comes to mind. Three high schools in four years and wanted Bo to promise him the starting spot (was the rumor anyway)

him saying he HATES this state pretty much sums it up

He's staying at Central.
Sounds like he must have had some people giving him a hard time about maybe leaving....I'm guessing that's what the twitter blow up was about. That said if he chooses to go somewhere other than NU he'd be best to wait until the spring signing period to make that call...otherwise I imagine he'll take more heat during his sr. season. The trick there is that some of the big time schools he might be looking at may pressure him to make a decision during the early signing period. (there is still a fall and spring signing period for basketball right?)

All is not lost, he got the attention he wanted.

Don't hang this on Miles if he goes somewhere else. And Miles is only kissing his backside because that's how you recruit.
If Miles has success it's not going to be by landing a bunch of top talent all of a sudden. He's going to have to ratchet it up, not leap up.
And the appeal of staying at home for an in-state blue chipper before NU is ratcheted up some has got to be low. If I was Agau, I would go somewhere else.

So is he staying in Nebraska because he wants to stay or because they didn't want him?

It is going to be much easier for Agou to declare his non-Nebraska college choice from Maryland then from Central high, where he by self admittance, gets pestered about it everyday.
One year at Maryland, one year at an east coast college, then off to the NBA.
So long Agou, we hardly knew yee...
So angry, FC.

Against what most seem to feel here I think he will end up at Nebraska. He seems to be about the publicity ( not a bad thing) He has been involved in Lincoln as stated. IF he feels there is a chance of something happening down there he could be a part of it and REALLY get some Pub rather than be a side note on someplace that is already THERE. We will see but my Money is on him being a Husker.

I think there's a better chance then people think, and the newest commit had a lot of contact with him thru Facebook. Also, I think that guy committing takes some of the pressure off Akoy like I stated in the other response.
I'll say this, he loves the attention. He wants to be told how good he is, and how much he is needed. But to be honest, he's 17 what kid that age wouldn't? People have been in awe of this kid since he was triple-doubling (almost) in the state tournament as a freshmen. I don't think there's anything wrong with enjoying the process. Biggs is in his ear big time as well. Him staying at Central is huge and if Thurman starts leaning towards Nebraska, you have all the kids Akoy showed around campus lobbying for him, Biggs texting him that he wants to play with him again, and Thurman in his ear saying how great it will be to play together after one year of being apart. It being the home school is huge too.
I would still put our chances at 35-40 percent to land him and every other school at 60-65 percent. Which is not bad odds right now.

I wouldn't put money on it. But I wouldn't put money against it either. How's that for riding the fence?

I'm right there with ya, I wouldn't be shocked either way. Taking it all the way to signing day kind of hurts us though a little bit doesn't it? I mean you have to keep a schollie open for him, but be telling another kid "if Akoy doesn't pick us you're our guy" - can't imagine a Big Ten caliber player waiting around for that.

There are still two signing periods for basketball right? Fall and Spring? Has he indicated if he's going to take this through the Sr. season and into spring?
If I'm advising him I'd say "If you aren't going to Nebraska then wait til spring. You'll endure a WHOLE lot of garbage all season if you spurn NU early." If it's attention he loves I'd say "if it's nebraska then choose in the fall...every gym will be packed all year long...full of red."

Well, from who I talked to they said he wouldn't be signing early at all. He wants to take all 5 of his officials, none of which will be to Nebraska (which makes sense). Can't believe he'd get that done before early signing period. One of those big time programs are going to blow him away at a game.

I believe NU was mentioned as an official in that article posted on the first page.
I'm not sure who he is but ESPN has us offering another Forward from Texas that is rated higher than Akoy and says he is considering us. Not sure what his story is but I thought that was interesting.

You very well could be right but from my source at Central said Akoy's going to take 5 officials to places further away and unofficially visit Nebraska. Makes sense if you don't have a ton of money to just blow on plane trips. Especially if most of your favorites are on the east coast. Plust he's been basically unofficially visiting Nebraska every month or so anyway, I don't think he gains anything by taking an official to Lincoln.
