If you are a car guy

and you are in Michigan this time of year, go to the Woodward Dream Cruise:

The official Woodward Dream Cruise got its start in 1995 as a fundraiser for a soccer field in Ferndale and has grown to be the world’s largest one-day automotive event. It draws 1.5 million people and 40,000 classic cars, whose drivers either cruise up and down Woodward or just hang out and watch, according to the Dream Cruise’s official website. People come to Michigan from all over the world to see the Dream Cruise.

I don't know... the Iron and Bauxite on our car lots today is far more exciting than all that old stuff... a 2012 Camaro would toast virtually any production model Camaro from the 1960's in any type of race you'd want to run... and pollute less, too... same with the Vette... and you can keep going down the line...

I'm not so sure about this...the mid-60's 427/435 Vette was one strong mother

You might be right... but I think you put them on a road course and the moderns would win hands down... I remember in the early 1980's GM came out with an updated Vette and even though the straight-line acceleration wasn't as strong, they said it would toast the 1960's version on a road course... I think Car and Driver or Road and Track put it to the test... Now you have powerful engines - every bit as good as the 1960's and superior handling... especially in the Camaro

No problem with the 60's big block engines getting beat in a road course by the new kids in town...I tend to agree. The fastest I ever went in that Vette was around 146 MPH and it looked like the body was beginning to stretch so that there were gaps where there weren't gaps before...such as around the glove compartment, etc. Time to shut 'er down. But straight down the 1/4 mile track...? If there were a couple of amateurs running the gears...I'd bet on me and the antique Vette.
    Everyone thinks they're right
