Everyone really impressed with the incoming freshmen on the D-Line. Lots of praise for Jackson. Bottom line, if we can run and play blackshirt defense, we'll be fine. Consensus is Taylor's passing is improved but not enough to be a threat.
I dvr'd it and haven't had a chance to re-watch it yet, but it did appear that the d-line was firing off the ball more aggressively than the passive response that I noticed the last couple of years.
In high school, we won a state championship using a very similar gap scheme, but our philosophy was to meet the offensive lineman at the line of scrimmage and stalemate or push them back a yard while making our reads. The past couple of years, at least to my eyes, it looks as if we are just letting the offensive linemen come to us and by that time it is to late.
