PGA Championship
Almost looks like a British Open course.
Pettersson leads at -7 but he's about to bogey. Tiger is at -5 and playing very well. Looks like his putter might be coming around. It's been his wedge game and putter that's been hurting him. If he keeps putting well he'll be right there sunday afternoon. And if the wind keeps blowing like it is he could run away with it. Lefty got it to E today so he's within striking distance but he's too eratic lately...and that's not going to work on this course.
John Daly was -4 yesterday and +5 so far today...too bad...he would have been good for ratings this weekend.
After looking at full field scores it does look like the course is having it's way with the players today. Only 4 rounds under par today and that number could go to 2 or 3 by the end of the day. That should tell you how hard it's playing.

Second round average so far: almost 78.

This is Tiger's element. He is at his best when the weather is bad and the wind is blowing, because he can make more shots than the competition.
The voices in my head may not be real, but they have some good ideas!

Ian Baker Finch with what will certainly be the line of the week (and I don't think he was trying to be funny). Tiger had a LONG putt from off the green for his 3rd shot on a par 5. BLEW it by the hole and off the green and down into a collection area:
Finch: "Good line he just hit it 45 feet too far"
Brilliant analysis, Ian.

He started walking as soon as he hit it. His putting has really saved him today, but that was a bad one on a hole he could have had birdie.

I may get in trouble with this one...but my friend calls that a "17 year old putt"----exploded in his hands.

Looks like I jinxed tiger. As soon as I say his putter is on he blows one off the green and leaves another 10' short.
-
Made that 10 footer. 3 putted the last. I defininitely jinxed him!
4 way tie for the lead going into Saturday. Should be an interesting weekend.
-
Tiger and Vijay in the last group on Saturday.

Tiger shooting himself out of the tourney today.
McIlroy leading at -7...on fire today.
-
McIlroy playing great and if he stays steady he can win it. Tiger is continuing his "blowing up on Saturday" routine.

The rest of the 3rd round is about the best thing that could have happened to Tiger. I'm betting he's hoping for windy conditions tomorrow

Yeah, even though it was breezy today, it wasn't blowing like yesterday. Tiger needs gale conditions, but he really screwed the pooch dropping 5 strokes in 7 holes.

I butchered that post. I mean "the rest of the 3rd round being postponed is about the best thing that could have happened to tiger"

Whereas at the start of his career when Tiger had the lead at the beginning of the 3rd or 4th round, he would never lose, now it seems when he gets in position, he presses and plays stupid at times.

The 3rd hole today was a good example IMO. Totally drivable par 4 and he plays iron off the tee. Blows it over the green with his wedge and saves par. But had he gone for it there's little chance he'd have been in a worse position hitting his second than he actually was hitting his 3rd.
That said he's back to -4. 5 shots back of McIlroy...who is playing very well. But so was Adam Scott at the british so you never know. Tiger needs to find a way to get to -7 and hope for the best. That stretch yesterday simply killed him. Had he played the first 7 holes or so even he'd be at 7 now and probably in the group with McIlroy. That round getting suspended did help.
Carl Pettersson took a 2 stroke penalty on the first after they reviewed the video...they didn't tell him til a couple holes later...he's hung tough since getting the news. Poulter is on fire today. He and Pettersson are the best chance to beat Rory.

Rory dusted the field in the last 2 rounds. 75 in the 2nd round kept it from being even more of a laugher (although that was still 3 strokes better than the field). Looks like he's got the game to pile up some major titles. Only 23 years old.

Rory hits about a 12 footer for par on 17. The guy is putting like a witch.
