Canada's Melissa Tancredi avoids suspension, can play in bronze-medal match

Unbelievable....FIFA never ceases to amaze me....and Canada complains they got screwed.....

Oh well time to win the Gold Medal...

Can't wait to face Canada again....

FIFA will not punish Canadian Melissa Tancredi for the now-infamous stomp on Carli Lloyd’s head in the 55th minute of of the United States’ 4-3 victory over Canada. (You’ve heard about this game, yes? If not, you really need to get out more.)

It’s a questionable decision, but I think it’s ultimately the right one.

In a vacuum Tancredi should 100% be suspended for a couple games, maybe more. Deliberately cleating a fallen opponent in the head is dangerous, dirty, and just plain “highly illegal” to borrow a phrase.

Grant WahlVerified@GrantWahl7hFIFA says it won't take action against Canada's Melissa Tancredi for stepping on Carli Lloyd's head. Lloyd says she thinks it was on purpose

@GrantWahl AWFUL! A foot to the face is much worse than a fist. FIFA should be ashamed of their inaction towards intentional violence.

That's about as blatant as it gets.

Canada can take solace in the fact that the only reason they had a chance at all in the game is because they had a player on the field for the last 40 minutes of the game who should have been sent off.
If you think education is expensive, try ignorance.

I suspect we won't be seeing a friendly against Canada for a while. And, as a point of slight interest..Women's World Cup in 2015 will be in Canada...not sure that has any link at all to the story; but, we're already thinking of going and I just thought I'd mention it.

Intrestingly enough the press in Canada has totally ignored it as they rant on how the USA 'cheated' them.....looks like they got what they deserved....

She knows full well what she did....and now has a reputation as one one of the dirtiest players in the game.....in the end we got the last laugh....Gold Medal Game...

Men of Israel, consider carefully what you intend to do to these men. Some time ago Theudas appeared, claiming to be somebody, and about four hundred men rallied to him. He was killed, all his followers were dispersed, and it all came to nothing. After him, Judas the Galilean appeared in the days of the census and led a band of people in revolt. He too was killed, and all his followers were scattered. Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.” - Gamalie the Pharisee - Addressing the Sanhedrin regarding the new group called Christians
