Friendly reminder about the rule regarding the quoting of copyrighted material

As football season approaches, the mods wanted to remind everyone about the rule regarding the quoting of copyrighted materials on the boards:

Copyrighted Material: Posters are strongly encouraged to substantiate their opinions by linking to other websites, and particularly to opinions and data provided by journalists. In almost all circumstances, this other material is protected by the copyright laws. Accordingly, posters should always provide a link to the original source of the material, provide attribution for the author or publisher, and limit their quotation of the copyrighted material to no more than one or two paragraphs. Copyrighted images should also be linked to their original source.

The purpose of this rule is try and avoid copyright violations from occurring on the boards. We have been contacted on a number of occasions by copyright owners about infringements of their material by HuskerMax posters.

When quoting a copyrighted article, posters should quote no more of the article than is necessary for the reader to get an understanding of what the article is about. We want posters to click on the provided link to read the material on the site hosted by the copyright owner. Remember, on the internet, the name of the game is to generate hits to your website. Hits = revenue. It is only fair to the copyright owner that their material is read on their website,

Please make every effort to comply with this rule.

    Thanks, the Mods
