I guess I could care less how he handles the media. He is here to play football. If he can manage our offense and not make mental errors he can diss the media all he wants. I never heard that public speaking is a skill required to be a good quarterback. Yes we desperately need him to progress his play to the next level big-time. As he goes, our offense will go. And I agree our o-line needs to step it up to the next level as well.

I don't care if the kid throws underhand to complete passes 60% of his passes. I'd rather see the fastest player on the team EVADE THE PASS-RUSH!
I have to disagree with you, but I won't call you crazy. I think if TM did complete 70% of his passes, the Huskers would likely go unbeaten. Having the ability to scramble a little better woiuld definitely help too, but not nearly as much. That said, I think the goal is unrealistic and I'd far prefer a 60% target and some better scrambling against the rush.

I would rather see him more comfortable in the pocket. Him joking with the media tells me nothing truthfully.
On the other side....even if he doesn't have a better year than his previous two as a starter, doesn't mean he hasn't matured. Maturing could be present without his ability on the field being all conference-like.

The point wasn't in saying he is good with the media. The point is asking, is his new comfort indicitive of more comfort in the program and with being a leader, handling the spotlight, etc. Those are all very important qualities.

I think it's indicative of him showing some maturity and confidence. Seeing him more at ease in front of the camera/reporters is very good to see, IMO.

Agreed. Usually people that are confident in their ability show this trait.

That's a fair argument. But, all things considered, don't you think its more realistic to become more elusive in the pocket than improve 20% points? TO said Taylor hits full speed faster than any player hes ever seen. Also, he hit 70% against NW and OkLite and we barely escaped one and lost the other. I suppose im just more of a fan of running qbs because they can keep the clock moving (and away from the other teams offense) and given TMs talents, the more realistic improvements are in his scrambling.
If be thrilled if he improves anywhere. I'm behind the kid...

I hope his pocket presence improves but sometimes our o-line plays well and sometimes not so well. I still appears he wasn't the same after his ankle injury in '10. Maybe it was more severe than we realized.

Well, although I still think I'd take the 70% over better scrambling, you have a point...I probably over-estimated the number of wins we'd have if he hit 70% (Bo is still coach). He's actually only done it in 1 game (NW) and we lost. But, I do think over the course of the season, unlike the NW game, the rest of the team would generally show up on game day if their QB was batting .700.

seems much more relaxed & comfortable with the scrutiny which accompanies being the starting QB for the Big Red.
Hard to believe (as time flies) but as a RJr, this will be his 3rd year as the starting QB, if memory serves, that's some pretty elite company at NU (Frazier, Crouch,... Gill, S.Taylor, Tagge, Humm, Claridge? )
Simply no substitute for an experienced signal caller... perhaps we could be in store for some pretty special times
