U.S. women advance to Olympic semifinals with win over New Zealand

Poor officiating from the Argentian ref....Arlo White coined it best when he said she was very passive and avoided any big decisions....that 'keeper played Morgan and not the ball and should have got a sraight red and a sending-off....anyway good win over a decent New Zealand side.....

Up next is Canada/Great Britian...I still think we will see a France v USA rematch in the Final....

Abby Wambach scored in the first half, and substitute Sydney LeRoux ended all doubt with a late clincher, as the U.S. women held off New Zealand 2-0 and advanced to the semifinals of the Olympic tournament at St. James' Park in Newcastle, England. The Americans will play either Canada or Team Great Britain for the right to advance to the gold medal round.

Was able to catch a bit of the game online, but of course, I missed both goals. Solid win!

I have to disagree with the keeper deserving a red card, as she was going after the ball, not Alex Morgan. The fact that the keeper caught a knee to the head, and was knocked out, by sliding to clear the ball off her line, tells me that she was not going after AM. Yeah, as a keeper's dad I might be a little biased, but I thought the call was right after watching the replays. The angle I first saw it from, I did agree with you, but when I saqw it from the Sir's POV, I agreed with his non-call.
