Hardest hit by a Wide Receiver.
This is another thread in response to Forno's QB thread.
Now I know some would like to put Enunwa's hit last year on this thread, which is arguably a great hit..
But here is my favorite....
Steve Largent on Denver's Mike Harden in 1989 I believe. Earlier that season Harden knocked the crap out of Largent for a few games.

I remember that play. Harden was a buddy of mine and we used to kid him about it a lot. Funny thing in watching that film ... it very likely would have been ruled a helmet to chin hit on a defenseless player under today's rules. So it would have been a double reverse: 1. Instead of Harden knocking Largent into another area code, which as you said he had done many times before (Harden could really hit), Largent knocks Harden into another area code; and 2. Instead of a DB getting flagged for hitting a defenseless WR, the WR gets flagged for hitting a defenseless DB!

I recall that Harden could lay the wood. In today's rules it more than likely would have been a penalty I agree with you on that, not that I agree with today's rules mind you.
Am I right on the year? It was a guess, looking at Largent's career numbers he did play full- seasons in 1982, and in 1989.. 82' was a strike shortened year, and 89' he played just 10 games.

The hardest hit I ever saw by any WR was when former Redskin Michael Westbrook absolutely cold-cocked RB Stephen Davis during a practice some 10 years ago -- sorry, but couldn't find any video, but trust me, dude went all Mike Tyson on Davis's pooor unsuspecting tail. This was the definition of 2 hits....Westbrook hitting Davis, and Davis hitting the ground.
edit: To clarify, this was NOT an on-field hit, this was a sucker-punch during an argument -- nonetheless, it was the hardest hit I've ever seen by a WR
