If landing an Elite 11 QB finalist is considered "salvaging the day at QB" then I'll take that every year.

    We were really scrambling.

Do we have some top minds on an emoticon for this yet?

    FYI.....

Johnny Stanton is junior quarterback from Santa Margarita HS. This past season Johnny lead his team to a CIF Pac-5 Championship and CA State Championship. He is a quarterback with a strong arm that can make all of throws. His pocket awareness is more than exceptional, he knows when to stay in the pocket and take the hit and when to tuck the ball and make a play with his legs.

Now, it's becoming clear that Stanton's decision is a bit tougher than you've been saying...otherwise, we wouldn't be having this discusion. This report also rejects your long-standing declarations that we'd be picking up 2 top QB's this class. (NOTE: That seemed a logical goal for the staff since we have no QB's from 2011, only 1 from 2012, and, our desparation pick-up from 2010 apparently doesn't "get" the offense yet.) So it's not out of line to say that QB recruiting is not going as planned...even if JS announces today. With a little luck we will salvage something by getting Stanton and our staff may have some "lessons learned" they can use in the future.

PS--I wish Bo great luck...he will definitely need it soon.
So we lose one of our top choices to an in state school, and another to ND. Yet are able to get a darn good QB from a talent rich area, beat out 2 other strong programs, and if youve watched the films, could argue we got the best of them all. And thats scrambling? Interesting. When I want a break from reality Ill come visit you in la la land.

And every kid has a tough choice on where to go... not just Stanton. Although I wish the scenerio is every time a kid has a letter with a big red N on it, he drops all the other letters in his hand, tears it open like its Christmas morning and drops to his knees, then looks up with a single tear in his eye and a bottom lip quivering smile because he just got the OFFER of all offers... its not. Our coaches are doing a TREMENDOUS job this year recruiting. We have some frickin studs coming.. period.

We'll be scrambling for tight ends next. I hope.
