Well, you can register to vote by checking a box when you get your drivers licenses, renew your drivers license, for one. You have an opportunity to register to vote while signing up or renewing at any state welfare office. You can pickup a registration form at most all public libraries. Most civic events (like city 4th of July festivals) have voter registration tables. Minority churches are famous for having registration drives after Sunday services. and on and on it goes.

If you want to register to vote in the State of Florida there is nothing standing in your way except yourself. The fact that you perceive that if someone signs up people on Friday they might not be able to complete the registration process in time (within 48 hours) shows what you think of people. I would lay money on it that most registration drives happen on the weekend and that this type of registration activity rarely happens on a Thursday or Friday.

I have to start to question why you think certain people are so lazy and stupid that they can't get registered to vote.

It really doesn't matter. If they want to do it in person in the supermarket parking lot then they can do it that way and there should be a fair amount of time to get them turned in. The fact they are shortening it to 48 hrs along w/ the other things like no sunday voting make me think they just want to make it harder to register people.

In my experience Dems are a lot better organized with the voter drive things. I am sure they can get those new registration forms in same day if they want. The GOP isn't really that good at things and my bet those forms end up in someones trunk for a few days.
Do the math. Registration forms completed late Friday could not possibly be turned in within the 48 hr time limit.

But do the Pubs want to do away with or have done away with Sunday registration? I have to start to question why certain people are so stupid and blind as to the reason why Pubs in many red states are attempting to shrink certain segments of the electorate.

Okay. How does this affect the underprivileged more than anyone else? Last I looked 24 hrs was 24 hrs whether or not you were a minority or not.

As I stated...you'd have to look at who gets registered in person like this more...dems or pubs. I think it's a safe assumption to say Dems.

It doesn't just affect underpriviledged or minorities, it affects anyone who registers on a Friday.

While liberals claim Republicans are trying to disenfranchise minority voters, what they're really upset about is that it's getting harder for Democrats to register people who are too apathetic to register on their own. That the integrity of every vote is paramount is an obstacle to their goal of padding their ranks with as many numbers as possible, including citizens that have to be coaxed into registering and voting (possibly by proxy )

Ok so both of you are working really hard for sunday voting and registration...so I guess you are ok with church involvement in the electoral process...you know we all go to church on Sunday and the preacher gives a sermon on some topic or talks about how we need to get good people like so and so in office (or heck sometimes so and so shows up)...than we have our benediction and march downstairs to register to vote or actually vote.

And I believed you guys when you said that you were for the separation of church and state.

Anyway it is pretty apparent you guys have a dim view of some peoples ability...

Well some states are both. However, I believe these attempts to shrink the electorate are occuring only in red states. However, at least in Michigan the Republican governor did the right thing:

In Nebraska a voter ID bill was killed by filibuster this spring.

So now the spin is according to you, FLA and Thill is that the new regulations don't really make it harder to register, it's just that the unregistered are too lazy and stupid to register. Got it.

I don't have the answer yet but I have sent an email off to a friend of mine that should get the answer.

The question is: Does the 48 hour period for voter registrations include weekends and holidays that close the clerks office?

I know that with most everything else dealing with the state days the state offices are closed don't count. If anyone has the answer great, I will let you know what my friend finds out.

I have never implied that people are lazy or stupid. I have only said that it is so unbelievably easy already that I don't see any of this getting in the way of someone that wants to vote.

You guys both seem to think that people can't without all these added measures. If anyone is implying people are lazy or stupid it would be you guys...I'm just saying they probably aren't motivated enough to go and register...which just show the level of importance they personally place on voting.

Going to the deflect the "lazy, stupid, and apathetic" thing back on us now? Got it.

I am not deflecting anything. If you can't take the reality of your position that is your issue. Don't go projecting it on me.

immoral? Really? you must be out of bullets.

The fact is it is very very easy to register to vote. I am shocked that you guys aren't demanding that the forms be pre-filled out. There is nothing immoral going on here or even racist. Give your fake outrage a rest.
