    The Pledge of Allegiance

As originally written in August, 1892:

"I pledge allegiance to my Flag and (to*) the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." [ * 'to' added in October, 1892. ]

    http://oldtimeislands.org/pledge/pledge.htm

Does anyone believe that this version infringes on their rights?

No. But the emphasis on the flag is unnecessary.

Neither version infringes on anyone's rights.

I don't mind either version, but I see where this is going. Probably a matter of time before it gets changed. Maybe the ACLU and our current administration will make it a priority.

I am going to google this, but before I do I am asking this. Wasnt the Pledge of Allegiance a marketing thing to sell flags when it was conceived?

Alright, so I was thinking of something else. Carry on.

It was written by a Socialist. I don't think we should let our kids say it.

If it was suggested today it would be called indoctrination.

So maybe M-T-Th-F for grade schoolers and just M-W-F for the older kids? (And I think we already give them all Saturday and Sunday off.)

I realize that I once again swin against the current on this issue but I see no need for the pledge of allegiance whatsoever.

Is it a requirement? Can kids just not say it? I don't recall a gun to anyone's head when reciting it. Just sayin

In some areas yes, and there are people trying to make it a requirement in other areas. Nebraska is.

I recite it every time I drive by a chick in a red, white, and blue bikini.

Read the articles you link next time:
Fulton said the law wouldn't mandate that all students and teachers participate, just that it's recited in classrooms. The Supreme Court of the United States has ruled in the past that it's unconstitutional to require people to recite the pledge.

I know this, I read the article. One would still have to watch/listen to others recite, so it's still participating.

Hell, when I was a kid, we would just race through the allegiance to see who would finish first. that's how pitiful this recitation thing is. I know what it means and all that jazz but reciting every single damn day? STUPIDITY.

I guess I don't see a "need" either. Basically, as an issue of importance to me - this one isn't.
